and also i just changed the bulbs all in one night so i didnt have to keep on taking it off.masticatingcow wrote:Heh, I can drop the steering column in under 2 mins. You do this kind of stuff a couple times with the right tools and its cake.
Hm, I thought that there were only 4 red-socketed bulbs (as opposed to the two brown ones used for warning lights) but you're probably right. I mean, it IS your cluster... LOL.90 DGRZ wrote:the digital cluster hold 6 194's
Awesome. Yeah, I have those same little holes. I'm not entirely sure why they are there, but no big deal. If you're up for it, I think you can use a vinyl repair kit to clean them up. I'll be trying that probably next week. (After my freakin' exhaust arrives! Geez! LOL)90 DGRZ wrote:hey brad i tore out my cloth inserts! there were a few small holes for some reason, but it still looks good! ... i'm actually contemplating tearing out the passenger leather insert ... just to match, LOL. time will tell.
Oh yeah, that's because there's a blue display filter on the clock. If you pulled that mother out and replced it with some plain white plastic, you'd get a better red.90 DGRZ wrote:the clock is a red LED which came out purple/pink in the picture for some reason
well, there are 6 of the red socketed ones, and a million various sized browns ones. you may have thought 4 because there are 4 in the tach area, then on the other side of the digital speedometer, there are the other 2 ... kinda hidden.masticatingcow wrote:Hm, I thought that there were only 4 red-socketed bulbs (as opposed to the two brown ones used for warning lights) but you're probably right. are you talking about that blue plastic filter that's wrapped around every one of those stock 194 bulbs? no right? but in any case, it only came out that color in the picture ... during the day and night, it's pure red.masticatingcow wrote:Oh yeah, that's because there's a blue display filter on the clock. hmmmm i was looking at the sylvania light bulb replacement book and it said the bulb was an "89" type/size.~4N~ wrote:Sorry, this is kind off topic, but what is the name of the bulbs that illuminate the rear license plate? One of mine went out, and I can't find them anywhere. Since I'll be ordering bulbs for the cluster, I was thinking of ordering the license plate bulbs as well. I found the Ba15 bulbs online, which look similar, is that it?
yea this is the kind of bulb you want240DRFT wrote:so do we want this one
The HVAC illumination ur talkin about are all those small icons that deal with the ac/heater junk right? does the HVAC use the "mini" 194 bulbs? anyways, to colorize them urself, juss take a trip to ur local hobby people and they have a big selection of high quality model paint like testors and tamiya ... look around, then just apply a light coat.masticatingcow wrote:A little more off topic - anyone know how to color the bulbs with a custom coating? I want to change the HVAC illumation to red, but, aside from not finding replacement bulbs, I have no idea how to colorize them... any ideas? Chuck?
