Hey Guys,

I am looking at one these turbos right now, I found it at a pretty good price but don't know much about the t3/to4H's opposed to the t3/to4E's. I do know that it was just rebuilt and it has not been put on the car since the rebuild and these are the following specs with some pics:

57 Trim Compressor wheelStage 3 Turbine wheel.63 A/R Turbine.48 A/R Compressor

I tried searching on Google but came up with nothing except one on a Eclipse. If you have any info it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Ivan

If it's a T04B-H3 turbo then it's probably a little too big. That turbo (H3) wants more flow at a given pressure then the KA wants. Turbonetics doesn't list a T04H, but they do list a T04B-H3. I suggest calling Turbonetics up and asking about the turbo.

No such thing as a TO4H AFAIK. The T04B has an H-# trim as erich mentions. But 57 trim seems more inline with the T04E compressor. A fairly decent match, but as you approach boost levels upwards of 15 psi, you may be getting quite close to the surge line with a KA. Especially with a T3 turbine. If you can find out the size of the minor diameter, then that could confirm which turbo. Having the outer would help too, but that would only show the difference between the T04E and the Super T04E.

erich: as far as a T04B H-3 being too big, it does not seem to be the case. I've mapped it and the KA will work with it just fine. The T04E series are actually bigger than the T04B (excluding the 60-1 and 62-1). If the H-3 was too big, then most T04E's would probably be too big. But many run T04E's and so far the most power full stock bottom end turbo KA's run T04E compressors.

This is what I was told on FA from a guy who works for Turbonetics

"The turbo is NOT a TO4E, it is a TO4B. The compressor housing on the TO4E is much larger than the TO4B, and in the pic, the housing is definetely a TO4B. The "H" refers to the trim size. "H" trim is 58mm on the inducer diameter of the compressor wheel."
