Hey guys,

I'm looking into this truck, but i know nothing about trucks, let alone Toyota's as i work on 240's. I don't have a problem learning about them and I'm mechanically inclined, so i don't worry about minor things needing to be replaced. This looks like a gem though.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Haha yeah its Canadian. Anyhow, it's between this and a Jeep Renegade for our Canadian winters and summers! We need 4x4.

It's a bit pricey, even in Canadian dollars, but it's hard to argue about their being well made and reliable. Better than a jeep IMHO. But I think he's a bit off with the engine comments. If the 4 cyl motor is good for a million miles, why did he have to rebuild it now? I doubt the original motor had a million miles on it. In fact I didn;t see where he mentioned how many miles are on it. Also I have the V6 with a 5 speed and it's doing great as of 200K with the original motor, trans, clutch.

It looks nice in pictures. worth checking out.

I think he priced it high to keep people from using it as a winter truck. As you can read he's a 4runner enthusiast and has been uber-anal about it..

I sometimes see these old Toyota pickups where the owners take off the lettering TO and TA and leave it as "YO". ;)

That's the good engine. I don't think you can go wrong there if you can get it for the right price. (You weren't seriously considering a chr*sler product were you?)

Jeeps are awesome. They're Chrysler products that didn't get ruined by Chrysler, the same way 4Runners are Toyota products that didn't get ruined by Toyota.

The YO trick was also popularized in one of the Toy Story movies... :dblthumb:

As far as Jeep vs Toyota, we're talking about a 20 yr old SUV. At that advanced age, how the vehicle was maintained/treated is more important than it's reputation.
It's difficult to say from just pics or the info given how well this 4Runner was maintained/treated. It supposedly has a rebuilt engine but we don't know the actual mileage. If it has low mileage, then a rebuilt engine can be a warning sign of either misuse or poor maintenance. It looks nice in the pics, but who's to say it wasn't repainted (the same color) recently.

I'm not saying it's a lemon, it could be a gem, but in either case I'd suggest a close examination before pulling the trigger.
