Has anyone seen this type of wheel? How do you get the wheels off? lol and is it possible to convert back to a 4 lug design if needed? Any information is much helpful! THank you!

Formula 1 and JGTC and many other serious racing series run that. You can go back. Google that sh1t. I would NOT go back to 4 lugs. This is like the most PIMP sh1t ever.

iirc i saw a kit for sale a few years ago that would convert it to this.

i think i would shi* myself if i ever got this done. every time i saw my car, my attention would be drawn to the lack of lugs and i would just shi*.

You can get it off. But it would take a big a$$ socket. But it's a PIMP set-up. Buy it.

Wait, seriously?

Jesus christ...it's a center cap. There's 4 lugs underneath.

You shouldn't be buying a car if you can't figure out the basics of centercap removal.

Just dont be a jerk off who puts the hubs on the wrong side of the car. The are righty tighty two are lefty, This is how it doesn't fall off, forward driving keeps them tight, but if you reverse for a long distance you can loose wheel.

are u talkin bout lol.....u can run on one lug.....alot od D1 drifters do it....jus like that comp they had on SPEED.....all the cars had to have one lug to change the wheels cuz they only had a overall time of like 5 mins for the whole comp

But I have my doubts. I have never seen a car with a single lug wheel that had a nut on it that was that big. Even the JGTC and drift cars don't use bolts that big.

I would like to see a pic that is much closer. That looks like a screw on wheel cap. It is definitely a doable thing, but the reason there are 4 or 5 on your car is for stability. If that single lug has an issue you are F$%ked. Racecars typically run on smooth sticky tracks. Daily driving can be much more abusive on your suspension if you visit or live in the wrong places.

im with nzmo,

why would these be installed on a street car? with regular driving, on regular roads, itd be very unlikely for that to be a reliable way to hold your wheels on.

i have a feeling its just a really flush centercap, and those pictures are too small with poor quality to tell.

try to get a better picture.

i dont know why everyones referencing JGTC cars, those are straight up race cars, thered be a reason for single lug wheels.

holy ****.

one lug?

you've got to be kidding me.

that's a centerlock wheel. google it.

most people don't bother to do a true conversion for the street, so chances are the threaded part you see is actually an adaptor that's bolted to the original 4-lug hub.

ask him about it before you buy the car.

and i know someone's gonna ask...every well established reputable wheel manufacturer makes centerlock wheels (none of the knock-off ones). you just have to call and ask about them.

Some cars in the past came from the factory with centre "knock off" wheel nuts. Jags, and a few other english cars.

It's very doable, but may not be legal for street use. There is a safety issue to consider. Fine for racing, but even in racing some classes ban center nuts.

Yea i get that part....its really unreasonable to ride around the city with one lug.....but he said it was impossible....ive seen it on alot of cars...it doesnt matter if their daily drivers or not....i was jus commenting on what he said....he shoulda searched google or somtin

the ones run on race cars still use "Pins" to drive the wheel, generaly a larger pattern than standard bolt circles, there are also aftermarket wheel especially the big bling bling pimpn wheels taht use an adapter than bolts to the hum then the wheel slips over engaging the pins on the adapter, think "donk wit spinna's" and yes there are clone wheels that give this illusion by simply using a nut to hold ont eh centercap, oh and all the old MG's and trumph's werepin drive wheels as well

buddy of mine has a 64 impala with 80 spoke wire rims... his are like that. there is an adapter under the rim that sits over the lugs and the wheel fits that adapter like a gear meash kinda thing. his dont use a center "nut" perse tho. hes got the "blades" (back in the day they called them "spinners"...but they arent like a speewell like the name "spinner" implies today).... to get his off, you hit the spinner with a lead hammer......
