I've always liked track racing, and would like to get more involved as would a bunch of my friends. Do any of you guys know of some good tracks around SoCal ? I see video's and it looks like so much fun, I want to give it a try.

yeaaah I've always wanted to do that also... I think the best way to go about it (I mean, most legal/safe, etc) is through the SCCA. They have deals with all kinds of tracks and whatnot-- there are lists on their website. Thing is though it costs a lot to actually get on the track. I beleive you have to have gone through one of those driving classes ($$$), and you have to have all kinds of saftey equipment as well. Even after that you start out running solo for a long while before you can race side by side...

It looks like it's worth it though, oh I would LOOOOOVE to open my car up at the Glen... how sweet would that be..

I'm thinking more of the track racing where you are only able to pass on straightaways and don't have to take driving classes.

http://www.opentrackracing.com seems like you can bring a modded car, or even a stock car without any driving schools etc. But I need to find a track closer to Socal.

They have events all over the country at many of the major road race tracks and welcome enthusiasts with any make car. It's not a racing school, it's a high performance driving school where you use your own car. It's also the type of event where you pass only on straightaways. Prices are reasonable.
