i have been in contact with Lance at http://www.JGStools.com and have been asking about their DIY turbo header ktis and their plans to develop one for the CA18DET (as you can tell i am really looking into the manifold thing) and he says that all the needs is an AutoCad file fo the flange that bolts to the head (for the manifold obviously) and they can have them cut, and have header ktis available, and also make custom headers (equal length, shorty, tuned equal lenght) or you can ahve them made yourself by jsut buying the flange, 90* 304SS bends and the other flanges etc...

so i jsut want to see who would be up for this, this means you cna fit any turbo, andy wastegate you want

(at the sacrifice of some back presure, log manifolds arent the best breathing manifolds)

anyone have AutoCad and can send me/him the file, i dont have my manifold here at work and i cant get it done till monday.

later

from $260-$360 for log style, the stage oen is a DIY and the stage 2 is a built one heat coated etc... (but you can jsut get the stage 1 and high temp paint it and bake in your toaster oven, or your friends, cause it will not be any good after that)

it will be an extra 120 to ge thte first flange made, if we get enough orders he will waver that cost, thats why i am checking,.

stage One kit

what you see is what you get and you do what the hell you want with it, imagine if you just got about 10x90* 304ss bends instead of the two " T " you might just be able to throw together a really decent manifold.

especially if you get one of these burns turbo "short" collectorsi am sure you see where i am goingwith this!!!

stage 2

the come ready to just place the radius plate where you want to locate the turbo and cut and weld, or marka nd send back for them to weld...

so thats :

1 CA18DET flange = $6010x90* 304ss bends = $70and one Burns 321ss Shorty Turbo Collector = $350T3 Flange = $25

thats = ~$500 in parts...

maybe if you acn make a merge collector you can save $350 of that, food for thought especially when you have amde one out of toilet paper rolls :D

well i guess as a artist (digital art recently) i feel that fabricating is right up my alley, if i can jsut find time to learn to weld,

i'll be taking vacation first week in November to get my car on the road, maybe will take some time and ask the guys in the shop to teach me to weld.

you dont even want to see the rest of the apaper roll manifold, i almost completed it before my girl told me i was getting obsesive compulsive about collecting the rolls and lying in bed making them while she watch Everybody loves Gayman...

but i odnt have time to learn to weld, i need a manifold like yesterday..
