I have a friend who does a lot of fiberglass and carbon and kevlar fiber work and he has made some really cool vents and scoops both for his eclipse and some wrx's and is currently working on a friend of our's evo 8 to do some custom work on it. i want to have him make me a scoop for my 240 but he wants to see if there is any demand for some type of scoop to feed air to the filter or anywhere you want. i personally want mine carbon fiber but once the mold if done he can do carbon or fiberglass to be painted. the only thing is you have to cut the shape of the scoop in your hood and the scoop would come with studd that you could just wing nut in or whatever. the style he has on his eclipse that i think would look nice on the 240 would be a viper style triangular-almost scoop, but im open to ideas since it going to need to be done from scratch with my car as the prototype. i can get some pics if you guys want but im really just lookin to se if we can get any demand on here or ebay or whatever. so just post your replies and let me know what you guys think...luigi

so nobody is interested? maybe if i get some pics you guys will be stoked. the way he mounted his scoop is by cutting the exact shape of the scoop into the hood and then he mad a 2" wide strip that is the same shape but will be glued to the underside of the hood and it will have the holes for the scopp to be mounted. this way it makes the scoop come flush with the hood.

ok, im going to get ahold of a digi cam this week and we are going to take pics of the install of a cf one for my hood and some pics of the same scoop on his hood but countersunk in the hood and body matched. mine will be glued down and overlapping the hood so that way i wont have to mess with cutting out a perfect hole. hw is currently making some vents for the newer corrolla for a guy and he makes lots of vents and scoops for a guy whos sell them for the wrx's and new evos. ill see what i can snap pics of while im at his shop.luigi

ok here are 4 pics of the scoop, the hole i cut, and 2 of the scoop installed. if anyone wants pics of the box i made for the cone filter to actually make this scoop function i can take pics. the guy can make this style(would be cheaper since it is already molded) or he can make any kind you want for a bit extra, we are still working on prices though. we need to see if there will be any demand. he can do carbon fiber like mine if you do not want it painted of they can be made of straight fiberglass or even carbon kevlar if you want to get creative. the only color of kevlar he has right now though is red. the scoop is just glued down with some high strenght epoxay. let me know if you guys have any questions.luigihttp://www.eniety.com/pichost/pic/cfscoop.JPGh ... scoop1.JPG http://www.eniety.com/pichost/pic/scoop ... 000005.JPG

bump....btw, you dont need to get this style it would just be cheaper since its done and can easily be produced. he will make anything for any car as long as he can have one to mold or he can sell you a generic one.luigi

This may sound stupid, but isn't that a bit too far back to get any airflow into the filter? I thought that was why c-west made a headlight cover that had a scoop exactly like that cut into it, because it allowed the air to flow in and across the filter, instead of in and across the exhaust manifold.

Yeah thats what I was thinking too...it looks nice, but it may be a little too far back to get air into the intake

ok,i put the scoop there because i did not want it to be rained or snowed on. the scoop puts it behind my filter by about an inch and my filter is fully enclosed in a sheet metal box that i made, ill take pics tomorrow and show you guys, it actually works pretty well.also, like i said before, he has his scoop flat with his hood and bondoed in and painted. my friend just got his done last night and he went that route too. he will have his painted in about a week and ill get pics of that for you guys, its just way more work that way because it needs to be exact and then repainted. my car was just painted like 6 months ago so i didnt feel like having the hood painted again cause its a hard color to rematch. you could even just do it like me but paint it off of the car.the same scoop can be installed either way and if you want it to lay flat with the hood you have to exactly cut the shape of the scoop into your hood. then he can include in with the scoop the lower piece that would be glued to the bottom of the hood. that piecen you could either glue to or he can make the scoop have studs that come out and holes drilled into the 2nd piece.just tell me how you want it and we can do it, carbon, fiberglass, with or without the 2nd piece to make it fit flush with the hood, etc...luigi

That scoop is not bad. Does he do other types or just that on. I am actually looking for a vent style for the center. If they are available can you send me some pics of other designs? [email protected]

well, he can make whatever you want but if you want a flat vent its cool but i dont know that im going to donate my hood to be used as a mold again so it fits perfect. basically the one vent i have is only for that exact spot on my hood. he puts a wax on the hood and then just lays fiberglss on the area and reinforces it so he gets a flat mold of the hood or wherever.
