Most OEM H-pipe designs are tuned for the OEM system. On the Corvettes, most go to an X-pipe to eliminate popping, and change the tone of the exhaust. Very little is needed for the "scavenging effect".

I bought both the x-type Magnaflow muffler, and the Magnaflow x-pipe.

I don't want to have to change it later, so I just went all the way.

I am going with all stainless exhaust. It is $150 more than aluminized steel, but worth it in my mind.

The cost will be $400, which should include installing the new O2 sensors.

Next Wednesday, I take Lola to Brewbaker Infiniti for a fuel rail flush, fuel filter, belts, power balance and timing check. They will check the crank sensor, tp sensor, and all.

Then, on Thursday morning, I get 3 pulls on the Dyno Jet, then off to get the exhaust installed. Once they get that finished, then I go back for 3 more pulls on the Dyno Jet. I will post the results next Friday.

Tune-up at dealership...$300Mufflers, cats, x-pipe...$350Install shiny pipes and tips...$400Proving the HP gain or loss...$150

Increasing the hotness of my Q....priceless

Anybody want my old exhaust? I will have them save it if you let me know. Send me an email: [email protected]

Jeff,I want your new exhaust Let us know how much they would want a 2nd exhaust for... I think I will shop around this week with muffler places to see what kinda deal I could get on the exhaust.

Any guestimates on what you will be putting down as is ?

I just picked up Lola from the exhaust shop. WOW!!!!

It sounds just like my 2000 Corvette. The rumble at idle, the slight resonance at cruising speed, the angry growl at WOT. It has lost it's stealthy feeling, but I like the way it sounds.

They could only get polished tubing, so it looks great. I wish I had bought all polished pieces, now.

He tucked the ends up in the bumper cut-out & welded them together, so they wouldn't rattle.

The camera is crappy, but the pictures are OK. There are larger ones in my Member's Ride section. Click on a car in my signature.

Jeff,

Let me be the 1st to congratulate you on the new exhaust

Are they able to make any more of these for you ? I wouldn't mind buying the same kinda exhaust you have, to me it looks killer.

Only reservation I have is the tips look too short from a side angle, but thats not a biggy.

WHERE ARE THE SOUND/VIDEO CLIPS ?

MMMMMMM - that looks mighty tasty!

I would love to hear it! Can you make an audio file for us?

I'm gettin' out the hacksaw tomorrow morning and cuttin' my exhaust off at the collectors!

Soon as my Ameritrade stock jumps back up, I'm in on some new stainless.

I have some dead stock myself.

I talked to Brad about duplicating it. There is about $800 in my system. I bought all the parts, then had them bend and weld the system in. He said he could bend more, and make them bolt-in. There would be about 16 clamps, if you could get the muffler and tips welded together and bolted in the rest. I have it broken into 3 sections.

1. Manifold, through cats & x-pipe2. Resonators to the rear muffler3. Rear muffler and tips

I agree on the tips. I would prefer slanted 7" tips, but I got a smokin' deal on the 4" straight cut on eBay.

Let me get some Dyno numbers on the 30th before I start trying to put this together. It may be that it hurts the overall power and torque.

I would have to leave the car with them again, to make a system. They could build it for my car, then ship it to you. I imagine it would run around the $800 to $900 range. A full 2.5" would be a bit more.

I have right at $800 in this system, but saved about $80 on the tips. They only use the polished Magnaflow stuff, that costs a bit more than mine, but can replicate it easily.

John has the video camera on vacation, so the video clip will have to wait until the 30th as well. Just suffice it to say, it sounds EXACTLY like a late model Corvette.

Very Nice! I especially like the polished tubing.

The X-pipe really changes the tone a lot. People will do a double-take when they hear the car coming. They'll be expecting some muscle car and all they will see is a luxury car.

I have the Dr. Gas X-pipe with Spintech mufflers on my 94. I built mine out of 2.5 " mandrel bends. Everything is mild steel except for the mufflers at the rear. It is nowhere as fancy as yours but it does the job. I painted everything black to keep it stealth.

The sound is much different than stock. The word that I would use is "Roar". There is no popping or other annoying sounds. Just a mean, powerful roar at full throttle. Once you get to cruising speeds, then you can barely hear the exhaust.

whoa! I thought I was done modding my 94 Q45t until I saw your latest project. Now I am thinking of running the car down to the local shop to see what they can do for me in a 2.25 system with magnaflow mufflers. My original system doesn't leak, but the rusty exhaust tips look sad.

I put a zoomers (www.zoomersexhaust.com) on my hemi Magnum and it really opened up the engine.

I wasn't sure whether it was worth it to put a whole new system on the Q, but after seeing your pictures......whoa.

Looks good, to bad their are a couple of clamps on your tubes, it would be hard to install with no clamps. If you get it spot welded it would seal better and look cleaner. I'll be waiting to see your dyno results, that will gve you braging right.

PLEASE make some measurements so we can reference the backpressure.

O2 sensor locations and after Cat both sides at 4,000 and 6,000 and near redline.

These accurate PSI numbers can be used in future by Robert to fine tune A/F and find a few more HP. Maybe?

I would be in, especially if it was bolt together, polished, and had a test pipe.

It took them 1.5 hours to remove the O2 sensors.

I had them put clamps in, so I can remove the system for diff changes & transmission changes. The system is roughly like the original system when disassembled.

They can make more, in any size.

Dennis, I will see what type of readings the guys can get at the shop on the Dyno. It looks like I will be getting dyno readings this week, possibly Tuesday.

I think Brad can bend up another set with the mufflers and tips (you will probably want the 7" long tips) for around $800 to $900. I bought all my mufflers and cats off of the internet before I had him weld it up. He didn't charge any extra for polished, he just buys polished, because most of his customers are show cars, street rods, or hot rods. The aluminized steel was WAY cheaper, but won't last like the stainless.

I would have to take him my car, to build a second set, then have him ship them to you, to bolt on. Probably be $50 shipping or so.

I mentioned it to him when he built mine, and he said it owuld not be a problem.

I paid about $115 for the cats alone.

Brad was impressed with the pricing I got on the parts, but I am sure he charged me more on the install, since he wasn't selling the parts to me. It is a business, you know.

If you want me to check, I will run by, and get a hard quote from him. I am sure 2 or 3 sets at a time would reduce the overall costs.
