I'm trying to locate a good shop where people are knowledgeable about the 1st gen Q45's. I have a 90 and I want to have it checked out because I'm having a few issues I know aren't normal. I don't want to take it to a dealer because I know how they charge (I used to work for Niello Infiniti in Concord, Ca.-great dealer but I can't afford them). If anybody has a recommendation it'll be appreciated!

An hour at the dealer for a Consult check up would be a good investment. Then you can DIY or have a decent import tech do specific things, rather than blindly diagnose. If you want all in one service, Jerry Tucker in San Diego is really the only place.

I'm in Lafayette, and have used Niello for diagnosis, as recommended. You're right-expensive. A good independent shop is the Nissan Doctor ( N D Auto Care Inc, (650) 579-7262, Claremont & 2d Ave, San Mateo, CA 94401 ) Its a Z shop, very clean and knowledgable. I used them for susp and brakes-they may not be as good about the VH45DE. And I doubt if they have a consult with Q cards. Right next to Caltrain.

I mostly DIY. I am now doing everything for the 2nd and third time, since this is Q2 and total miles are about 200,000.
