It's illegal to not have front plates.

You have to have the front plate mounted in the front some how. My brother had gotten a warning for no front plates before. Some cops will even pull you over for it.

it is illegal but a lot of people don't have it up front. cops can give you a fix it ticket for it but the majority of them wont. it's usually one of those things that they use to pull you over and then search your car or something..... it's usually just an excuse to pull you over..... it doesnt look too bad though, i'd just keep it

Note to All California Vehicle Owners

Whether you get a regularly issued license plate or you opt to order a vanity or other special plate, the State of California requires that all motor vehicles and light trucks have a license plate displayed on both the front and back of the vehicle. (California Vehicle Code &sect5200)

also

Cell Phone Laws

The following best practices will help you drive more safely while using your cell phone:

* Always drive to the side of the road to use your cell phone.

* Use hands-free devices. Note: Beginning July 1, 2008, you may not use a cellular telephone while driving unless hands-free equipment is used.

* Let it ring. Don't feel compelled to answer.

* Don't use the telephone during hazardous conditions.

* Pay attention to the road.

* Be sensible about dialing.

* Don't engage in distracting conversations. Rush hour traffic is not the time to hash out marital problems.

* Use your phone to call for help.

so bluetooth going to be useful??how is it btw?

Rock out without it I just tell them nissan didnt provide me with a mounting point for it cause the car came with the STILLEN body kit. Its some kind of by law in Cali that puts the blame on the dealer if your car didnt come with a front mounting bracket. It always gets me out of the situation. However, Ive never been pulled specifically for the plate.

That cell phone law needs to happen now since on my way driving back to LB from SD some dumb man using his cell phone nearly ran me and 2 other off the road.

it's pointless. tests have proven that the real cause is talking on the phone period, regardless if it's the actual phone or a bluetooth head set. it all depends, i've seen some people drive perfectly fine while being on the phone and i've seen others drive horrible.

That law is stupid.

But on the other hand, anybody know a good place to mount the front license plate. I don't want to go to the dealer and buy a car with prep drilled holes in the front bumper. If somebody knows a good way to mount it please, share with us Californians.

Yea, it's illegal.

I've been stopped twice. Once it was a big fat ticket; tint, no front plate, and "no proof of insurance". I paid 10 bucks once everything was fixed and that wiped that ticket off my record. CHP signed my ticket for free. I took the license plate bracket off my car and didn't realize that the holes on the bumper are set wider apart then the holes for the license. So I just pulled up to the CHP station and started screwing my license plate back on... and left it with one screw. The chippie mentioned, "Oh, you need a bracket for it huh?" I just nodded and he said, "That's fine." And he still signed my ticket like that. I took the license plate off as soon as I walked out.

The second ticket was solely for no front plate. I had my windows rolled down so he didn't say anything about the tint. I showed him the same proof of insurance I showed the other cop... and he didn't give me a ticket for 'no insurance.' I haven't fixed this one yet. I have to go to a farther court than the court I paid for the big fat ticket.

I didn't mount mine on my 2003 SVT Focus and never got in trouble for it in NorCal, and I didn't mount on my A/C for 2 months in NorCal and now 3 months in SoCal... Can you get a ticket, sure. I'll wait until I get one. I like adidas2go's idea, but I need to get my Stillen front end still.
