I live in Ottawa and it was fairly easy - a little work in terms of physically getting the car (I chose to bring it through Champlain border in upstate NY) But generally, once your paperwork is in order and you know what to expect in terms of taxes (6.1% duty and then 5% GST which can be paid directly to Canada Customs at the border) it's fairly painless. But be advised< and try to find a place that will install a day time running light module ahead of time (in case your ride doesn"t have them already.) It'll save you time and hassles looking for a place once you bring it over. The dealer tends to over charge in the neighbourhood of $1000 (I got mine done for $260) Once that's done, fax your paperwork to RIV and they should email you the inspection form(s) which you print out, and then take them to Canadian Tire (with the car) for the inspection. The inspection is already paid for from the RIV fee you paid at the border. Once your car passes you can then take it to your provincial licence bureau for plates. Oh yeah, be sure to get insurance BEFORE you p/u the car stateside!!!
