i've had the opportunity yesterday to test pedal feel on people's S13's who've done a Z32 brake swap including the MBC. the pedal barely moves at all! it's super firm...i'd think i'd have a problem modulating it under extreme braking. also it would screw up my heel and toe since it doesn't let me depress it further so i can reach the gas with the edge of my foot. is there a size MBC i could use so the pedal will feel close to stock at least?? i might think about Q45 brakes since i heard the pedal feel is better with that setup. thanks for suggestions.

From what I have found from researching this is that there are 3 sizes of MBC's for the z32, 15/16, 1 and 1 1/16, the 1 1/16 is the one most seem to suggest but it is also the one that will produce the stiffest pedal feeling. I have read many find the 1 alot more forgiving. Haven't heard too much from anyone who has installed the 15/16's. I'm sure others will chime in and speak from first hand experience and correct me if I am wrong.

BTW: I got a size 1 MBC for my upgrade because of those reports/reviews I read, just need to get it all installed.

Get the rear z-brakes.. that should help with the stiff pedal problem.

I put Z32 front brakes with stainless lines at the corners with the 1" Z32 master cylinder. I love the way it feels. Since I was leaving the rear brakes stock, I thought the 1 1/16" master cylinder would be too stiff. I highly recommend the 1" if you're just doing the fronts.

you guys are confusing the hell outta me! lol i want close to a stock pedal feel or a tiny bit firmer. at least to have the pedal go down a few inches. when i tried other people's setups, their pedals barely even moved. also, i don't want a rear z32 swap, so that's outta the question. however Q45 front brakes are still an option. but i wanna stick with Z32s if the pedal feel is good.

I think you would be very happy with the feel of Z32 front brakes with the 1" Z32 Master Cylinder. It's firmer than stock, but definately not too firm.

I used SS lines in the front with Z32 brakes and it stiffened up the pedal alot from stock, i was going to change my MC but i see no reason for it after doing the swap and feeling the brakes.

have you installed it yet? is there anyone here with the so called "15/16" sized Z32 brake master cylinder??? if so, how do you like it? i might think about just ordering the 1" bmc, ss lines and calling it a day.

I did mine swap z32 front and use 15/16 MC with stainless lines on my 95' S14 a week ago. The pedal feel great almost same as stock. I just finished swaping the rear with stainless lines and also use 15/16 MC. Its still working great. If you dont trust me, you can drive and test my car yourself to prove my wrong. Plus my dad was a mechnic and i have had work on the car since i was 10. The only problem i have now is the Ebrake cable. I dont want to cut and tight it together. Any better suggestion? But yea... 15/16 MC work great and smooth for front and rear Z32 upgrade... good luck...

Here is my experience: I installed Z32 30 mm calipers with Z32-spec Brembo rotors on the front only but did NOT change the master cylinder. I also installed SPLParts brake lines on both the front and rear brakes. The brake feels a little stiffer, that's all.

I recommend that you first do your brake caliper/rotor/brake lines swap and check out the brake feel. Every car may be a little different. Your car may not produce the same result of your friends' cars. If the brake feel with the stock master cylinder is not what you want, then consider a swap. This way you won't waste time deciding which MC you want.
