What the topic says....I am going to Virginia in a few days to pick up a truck for my dad, I am taking the train, so what I need to know is there a rail line that runs off of Fredericksburg's amtrak station that brings me to or near Port Royal?

Also a side question to this, is route 301 from virginia through maryland open to all vehicles? Or is it like a parkway where commercial vehicles aren't allowed.

thanks.

No. Take a taxi, it's only about 10 miles or so.

301 is a national highway. Restrictions aren't on national highways unless there is a business route with the same number.

Also, why the heck are you taking 301? That road is slow as hell compared to 95...

well fredericksburg is about 30 miles from port royal, so that's why I was seeing if there was a train, but I think I am going to arrange to be picked up by the guy I am picking the truck up from.

Also taking 301 because it takes miles off the trip instead of taking 95. It pretty much takes about 50 or 60 miles distance off the trip cutting through using 301 going through Maryland.

BTW nice Amtrak map, didn't see that when I was on the site.

That's not really Port Royal then. That's some hick telling you the closest well-known town, lol

Yeah, but if you've ever driven it, you would know it is still slower. Traffic lights, more police, slower speed limit, etc...

HAVE you ever driven there before?

Take 95 north back, and take 295 around Richmond and you will be fine. Not to mention how bad 301 gets backed up at rush hour, BTW.

No, I have never driven there before. So you think I should just take go back west to fredericksburg then take 95 instead of using the 301 and cutting through maryland?

Yeah it is the same Port Royal, I mapquested from Port Royal to Fredericksburg and it's 26.2 miles.

I would def take anything you say into consideration seeing as you live in the general area.

Also not to be a d!ck but Richmond is farther south than Fredericksburg so on the way back north I would never hit Richmond.

The center of town is less than 20 miles from 95 if you take US 17 east.

Don't take 301. You don't want to go 30 and 45 MPH and deal with traffic lights, do yah?95's speed limit is 55 and 65.

Alright cool, 301 was only in consideration because I thought it was a route that was like an interstate (55 to 65 mph speed limits). Since you told me that it's more like a route 1 (traffic lights etc), definitely going to take the way you told me.

Thanks.
