I love it!! (especially thai)

Only thing is, it's hard to make just right at home....

Anyone know of some good recipes that turn out really well?

List specific ingredients to help get that "homestyle thai" flavour if you know of them.

I use a lot of chili powder in dishes (grew up in socal love me some Mexican food) but I recently discovered chipolte chili powder and its soooo good.

try this one though for grilled onions.

chop your onions, fold up some tinfoil like a pan and put the onions and some butter in. toss it all on the gril and then sprinkle a good amount of chili powder on them. Cook until almost tender and then throw a good pinch of sugar on them. let the sugar carmalize and then but on your burger..amazing

I can't eat spicy food for the life of me. Any slight spiciness and I start to sweat from my forehead. My dad can eat spicy food like its coco puffs. Weird.

Just go to your local Asian store and buy a jar of ground chili peppers in soy bean oil and slice up some thai chili peppers also. That's what i do and I am half thai half laos.

Ozzie, Get a green papaya, some vinegar, sugar, fish or squid sauce and some Thai Bird peppers. Use a grater and grate the green papaya into a pile of shoestring size pieces. Take 5-10 (depending of your tolerance) Peppers and a tablespoon of vinegar. grind into a paste in a mortise and pestle. Take about 2 tablespoons of fish or squid sauce and about 2 teaspoons of sugar. Mix all ingredients together, and you have green papaya salad.

I love spicy food and have a pretty high tolerance for it, but today.....

I went to Zaxby's for lunch, and I got their hottest wings...the flavor is called Insane.

A few weeks ago I had the 2nd hottest, Nuclear, and I didn't think they were that hot. Had a good bite to them, but nothing crazy.

Then today I ordered the Insane wings because I wanted to step it up a notch. And holy hell were these things hot. I had 3 wings, then had to take a 10 minute breather while my tongue soaked in ranch dressing before I could continue. They weren't the hottest wings I've ever had, but they were damn near it.

Yeah, I put Texas Pete on hot dogs... I'm thinking I might be a redneck, because sometimes I just ride around with a bottle of it in the cup holder of my truck.

I was raised on authentic Mexican food. Love spicy stuff. Not much beats a bowl of salsa verde and a couple tortillas.

As far as authentic thai ingredients, make sure you get the right peppers, make sure theyre ripe, peanut and ginger are common, so is coconut. If you dry up the peppers and crush them up they go great on curry and stur fry. My dad and I have been learning how to do some good stir fry at home so hit me up if you have any other questions.

Lol, and how do you think I feel when I carry the damned bottle to class with me just in case of an amazing chicken wing encounter?

Damn, I like both. Well, not necessarily chili, but there are some freaking awesome South American dishes. I've made 2 trips to Peru in the last 15 months, and one of the things I loved the most was the food. It freaking rocks. But you can't go wrong with some curry either.

For the record an interesting scientific study was done.

Capsaicin, the active ingredient in peppers that makes them "spicy" has been shown to be an anti cancer agent.

A controlled test was done with rats AND with human cell cultures that are very promising. Rats with tumors were seperated into two groups, and one group was given regular capsaicin injections while the others did not. The group that recieved the injections all showed a 20-40% decrease in tumor size after a couple months. apparently it attacks the mitochondria of the cancer cells easier than normal cells , activating their "self destruct mechanism" which dont work in cancer cells..which is why they dont die on their own.

So up your intake of spicy food and be cancer free
