nada...I live in Miami and we had nothing. My parents live in NW Florida (Destin) and nothing either. I was hoping for my first Hurricane Party, but I guess it will have to wait. Feel sorry for the people affected. I am at home at my parents and flew directly through Bonnie....all my ****tails were skaken on the way up Thursday....but that is okay...just as long as the flight attendent kept the booze flowing. Been through Andrew (Cat 4) and Opal (Cat 3) and all suck. Pretty much any CAT 3 & up $hit just starts breaking everywhere...it is like the critical mass breaking point. CAT 1 & 2 do some damage (trees, power lines, some roofs here and there, but nothing really major or widespread), but CAT 3 & up just rip $hit to pieces with nothing left untouched with much widespread damage.

I lived through Frederick (CAT 3) Sept 12. 1979 in Irvington, AL. Hurricane aren't as much the problem as all the rain and tornados. Glad to hear Rob wasn't affected.

Good to be back online again, finally. Geesh!

Thought I'd post a couple of pics from an extended family member's lake house near Lake Mary Jane (heh, I said Mary Jane) in Narcoossee, Florida after Charley's visit.

I live in the extreme NW area of metropolitan Orlando, but was without power, etc. Two Hellish, smoking, arcing, smoking, scary power lines in the front yard that would not die. That was all that happened to me. I had my kids with me that Friday & had just returned from Mega-Lo-Mart with our provisions when I heard it was a Cat 4. I was in MIA for Andrew, and Charleston shortly after Hugo & swore I'd never stay for one that size again.

Anyway, check out these Santa's Demented Playland pics, where even the trees are laden with cotton candy. Notice the roof 25 feet in the air 75 yards from the house!!!!!

WOW!!!

Only hurricane I ever experienced was Eloise... Back in the early 70's in Ozark, AL. Not sure how bad that one was but it did some damage.

I've been through aobut 9 Hurricanes here on the NC coast and they are all different from each other. Some are absolutely devistating and some, like Alex(first one this season) were really nothing more then bad thunder storms. Some however are killers and Life changers. Imagine getting together at a friends house to ride out the Hurricane(Hurricane party), having no power for 2 days and then leaving to go home to a house that has been completly destroyed.

I love listening to people on TV that just happened to be in a Hurricanes path for the first time and it's turns out to be not that bad and they say, "oh it was nothing. Hurricanes aren't that bad." They haven't been through a good one that makes you wonder if your roof is coming off and one were you can't sleep because it sounds like 3 jets are directly over head and not going anywhere. Those pictures bring back memories of Floyd, Bonnie, Fran and a few more where alot of people died right here not 30 minutes from where I live. A really good one will give you religion.

redmanfx,

You're right, no atheists in foxholes.

QShip,

Thanks for the warm welcome, I have a newly acquired Antec Performance series SX1030 something or another computer box & wireless keyboard, mouse, Pentium IV, 8.0 (?) gig drive, 284 something RAM, super p0rn loading speed video driver widget, etc.

I feel like the computer dude in "Swordfish"

So, in other words, I met a guy who WANTED an AEM EMS system (sitting on a shelf at the shop), for his turbo S2000 and he met a guy (me) who NEEDED a new computer. :)
