Just saw a post on Gizmodo about this company that has a damn good laser jammer. http://www.laserstarusa.com/

Does anyone have one or similiar? Seems to carry a hefty price tag for 599, but worth it when it comes to insurance premiums etc.

The Giz page i found it: http://gizmodo.com/5029704/las...antom Watch the video, its pretty slick.

i wish radar detectors were legal in canada, had one for awhile illegally and it saved my *** about 5 times

then one time it went off, i slowed down, cop pulled me over, i hid it under my seat, cop asked if i had one cuz his gun went weird. i said no, and he almost got a warrant to search my car, since then i stopped using it

you have to find out if its legal where you live. In california its NOT legal, california is kind of crappy, you must have a front liscense plate too, horrible

Massachusetts requires a stupid front license plate. I dunno what i'm gonna do if i get a new bumper. I'm def not going to put it on. I think it only becomes an issue when you have to do the inspection. Thats when zip ties come in handy.

I found a very informative forum on radar/laser stuff: http://www.radardetector.net

I gotta do my research to find me a good deal. No piggies will be blasting my plates.

I wonder what happens if you drive in a state thats illegal what the ramifications are, is it just a citation? If so, does that affect your insurance in your home state if your state doesnt have a law for it?

Its pretty relavent here becuase in the North East the states are fairly small and easy to drive to the surrounding states.

It's funny that you posted this...I came across the same article as well and asked for inclusion to their sponsorship program. I should be getting the info soon. I will keep everyone posted.

I dont know if you ended up reading the comments to that article, but people were saying that this company was one of the "shadier" companies that deal with laser jammers. So someone had referenced another forum (radardetector.net), they seem to really be on top of their game over there. I'll probablly do more research about the technology itself before i choose a vendor.

The guys at Laser Star also mentioned that site. I mentioned Nico Club and told the guys about the large internet presence we have. They said they do group buys. Seems to me that if they will sponsor me they can sponsor some of you guys (and-or gals ) too since our cars are so hot. Their sponsorship doesn't really require much other than sending them pictures of the install as well as giving them word of mouth support.

More information on Legality...If anyone is interested in seeing the manual email me.

Hello, I see you chatted with Mark B. He is a weatlh of info. if you ever really have any tough questions or from your forum buddies. I forgot to mention that the laser star is *Marketed* as a parking sensor since its producted in the UK because laser jammers are highly illegal so they get around that hurdle by putting a 4 level parking sensor and the laser star manual only talks about the parking sensor and not being a laser jammer unlike ie. Blinder, Escort and other jammers. I have enclosed a laser star manual for your reading and if you have any questions please feel free to contact us anytime and we will respond in a quick manner. I also enclosed a pic of a 2008 Altima Coupe front recommending head placement, 1. Red is for a single head placement with no front plate and still providing very good coverage of protection. 2. Yellow is for optimal coverage and if a front plate required. I also noticed in the grill under the badge there is space for the sensor but that might fit perfect not not sure if that chrome will hinder laser detection, Thanks, George
