finally got my ka-t running right and guess what...another slight set back. the initial problem was the dist took a dump, so i got new dist, cap, rotor button, and wires. ran good up until i really planked the pedal. then my good running little ka-t gave me a new headache. rough idle at first, then the engine wouldn't even fire up. pulled the cap off and the timing had jumped like 2-3 teeth. took everything off the top end, pulled the oil pan, timing cover and finally found the culprit. the exhaust cam gear had pulled the cam pin out of the camshaft the cam gear is getting flushed, the exhaust cam is getting flushed and doing a compression test to see if it actually bent any valves. if so the head is getting new valves.
anyway the reason for this post is...has anyone ever had this happen to them or is this something new for everyone?
the boost gauge actually hit 1.3 bar so i was boosting pretty good. everything is new in this engine...crower rods, ross pistons, cometic hg, new timing chain, tensioners, cam sprokets, guides, reworked head, stage 2 iap kit, arp studs, spec stage 3 clutch. all the goodies to be a bullet proof engine and then this happens
is there aftermarket cam sprokets that should hold up better or is this a freak occurance?????????
