I was wondering if anyone has the Injen cold air intake in their M. Does the car breathe better? Have you seen any MPG gains or mid level HP gains?

I found better results by leaving the car alone and excising to loose weight. This allowed me to breath better and the weight reduction allowed my car to go faster than any CAI. :rotfl

On a more serious note I personally am against CAI where the filter is down in the fender for a number of reasons but the biggest is the fact that gaining access to it for installation and cleaning is a PITA. I don't understand why http://www.prmracing.com/products.php systems aren't popular. This guy can build a custom, mandrel bent CAI for likely the same price and the filter would be up near the engine area. The filter is inline and completely sealed. The extension from the front (dirty side) of the filter would still go down into the fender area so it's sucking up cool air.

I've never heard of prmracing but am very curious. msvara, can you post up a picture of the prmracing intake on your car? Really curious about them.

To the OP, I have both the Injen and an R2C. With both, yes, increase in performance and mileage (marginal). Biggest benefit for me though is that I never have to buy another filter, just clean it. With the weather in Cali they perform pretty much the same. When it gets HOT out the Injen offers a cooler intake charge and slightly better performance.

I don't have it but I did on a previous car. There is a g35/z350 kit you can buy but I would have him make a custom setup for me. The cool thing with these filter canisters is the filter is reverse so the inside of the cone is the dirty side. At the centre of the cone is a large black ball. Not too sure on function but it's neat. I would actually get the larger filter with a fitting on the dirty side instead of the open end then have him run an aluminum pipe down to the fender. At the end of the aluminum pipe he can attach a trumpet. I had that and it made a really subtle swish during hard pulls. The filter is really easy to get at. There are 4 small screws at the base of the cone which holds the housing tightly against the enclosure. Unscrew those screws and the filter comes out just like any other cotton gauze type. Cleaning is with the standard k&n. I might just go have him build one for me.
