if so, how do you like it? Does it feel a lot better? Im thinking about getting a new transmission and clutch for cheap so i might as well have the mechanic put in a short shifter at the same time :D Also, is there anywhere to get it for under $250?? Im thinking i may get an OBX short shifter too....except ive heard OBX doesn't make too great of short shifters, at least for the 240

I don't, but I drove an S14 that had it on a KA.

It's frickin sweet. The difference is very obvious B&M vs OBX/Pilot.

I don't B&M but I as well have driven a S13 with one and it definetly feels great..

I hoewever have C's and that is great...

here is the difference...

B&M - very notchy feel... you have to actually puch the darn thing into gear.. but over all the throws are very short and precise.

C's - Smoth shifting. doesn't require a lot of push to get it into gear. I would say a little longer throw than the B&M... by longer I mean like 2mm or something.. This is less of a metal on metal feel than the B&M counterpart.

you make the decision... which ever you want to you with...

I have had both OBX and now have B&M and wish my car naver had an OBX in it ever cuz now the 3rd gear is hard to speed shift into cuz the OBX let about all my gear oil out and had it running about dry so get the B&M it really worth it it feels great i love it

I have the b&m. Great notchy feel. Noisy as sh*t. But extremely precise and quick. The shift knob you choose can change the amount of noise transmitted into the car. Definatley worth the cash.

Sidenote: If anyone knows how to fix the noise problem beside taping lead weights to the shaft, let me know.

I have B&M. I love the thing. Very notchy, shifts are crisp, feels more like a sports car. It didnt make any noise at first, but now that i;ve had it a while it is annoyingly loud.. Still worth it tho.

Some people also prefer them to the noise of a B&M.

Firmer bushings rubbing on each other or something like that. When you stick it in gear, it'll make a sound like "thok" or something like something clicking. My friend got an SS for his car and now when you stick it in gear, it clicks.

i have the C's shifter and its great ... alot shorter throws solid notchy feel but still the same effort due to the change in the pivot point .. i got mine from http://www.tougefactory.com for a very good price ... installed perfectly on my 96 240 with no extra modifications ... doesnt rattle at all .. i would definitely spend the money and buy it over the B and M which rattles like crazy !!

Wow, I've heard so many good things about B&M shifters and now ppl say that they are noisey and rattle... Would It be better to go with C's then?

i think a heavy knob would take care of the noise...that and maybe some tape weights on the shifter rod...

but i hear C's is #1, B&M is an equal in quality, but noisier...

Got my ss from nopi because they matched the pdm racing price of 225. i investigated the noise problem today and changed out my momo universal knob to the b&m knob that came with it. it fixed most of the noise problem.

this is the supposedly "fixed" version of the shifter purchased 3 months ago. the guy from b&m tech told me to tape some mag wheel weights to the lower section of the shaft.

instead of that i used some stick lead from doing stained glass to wrap around around the entire base of the shaft. then a small peice of rubber hose under the boot towards the top of the shaft to deaden it also. And i capped it off with the b&m knob.

noise is manageable now, i can barely hear it with the windows up and the stereo off.

it is mostly amplified by the knob you choose.

the noise comes from metal on metal positive locking equipment. it is a hell of a well built shifter.

i would suggest it to anyone, but be aware of the noise. i would be happy to give you a ride in the car if you are in the atlanta area any time soon.

i have the pilot motorsports short shifter (came with the car), and u know what its not that bad at all, not long and not short kinda in the middle, its actually really smoothe, and i dont see how people break them unless beating on their shifter is part of their anger management courses, it looks like a solid piece of aluminum to me

ill have to look into the C's shifter then when im in the market for one. Other than that i think theyre are straight up ones from japan for baout $300 that are the best....from what ive heard

does b&m sell their shift knobs as an individual item?

or does anybody know a mfg. that makes a similarly weighted shift knob that will fit the b&m shifter?

The B&M uses the same thread pattern as the stock shift knob. I have a nismo gt pro rubber knob on my B&M.

Just be sure to use a screw on shift knob on the B&M, the rattle is amplified by the ones with set screws because of the space between the knob and the shifter. Fixed my problem anyway.

That $205 for the C's sounds like the best bet to me. That's just my humble opinion.
