It is getting really annoying. Everytime I go over bumps, I get this annoying like squeak like something is loose. It almost sounds like it is going from the speaker covers mounted on both sides of the dash board. Also, the same type sound coming from around the sunroof switch area. It is hard to drive and find the noise at the same time. Anyone have these and locate the problem yet? It tends to be louder in the mornings when it is cold outside.

Only 12000 miles and I hear rattles from my dash right side by speaker. I will tell them and see what happens. It's by the air bag so maybe they will pay attention. The noise takes away from enjoying the ride. Hope I don't have to listen to this for another 80,000 miles.. BTW.... the worst ride I ever had in any car.

I have a rattle. Knowing where a noise comes from somehow makes it less bothersome. I discovered that mine was the passenger seat rattling. There's apparently a little looseness in the catch used to hold it upright. In other words- leaning back in the seat stops it. I'm usually by myself.

I have the same thing...It actually makes me hate this car!! It sounds to me like it is coming from the front passenger side, as someone else had said, I thought maybe the speaker was loose or something....it is almost non-stop rattling...it is maddening...I too only have 12,000 miles on my car and I am so disappointed Please, someone let me know if you have found out what this rattle is!!

Mine just started to rattle on the driver side where the dash and window meet near the speaker. Cant figure out what it is. Hopefully going to do a road test with one of my buddies this weekend to figure it out, since he is a technician for cars. I'll post what we find.

Mentioned this elsewhere, and it has always worked for me when the source was difficult to determine. Get someone else in the car with you, preferably someone flexible because they may need to be a contortionist and with at least one good ear. Put them in the front, then the back if necessary, and drive until they can narrow it down to a specific location. They can also poke and prod things you can't reach while you're driving. Makes it much easier!

Please Do! My girlfriend rides with me all the time and says she can barely hear it and refuses to poke around and she can't drive a stick! Figures.

Joking of course! I think I'll take Ferguson's advice and get some one to ride with me to help silence the ever annoying rattles and squeaks!

Is your car still doing it months later? At first i thought hmm maybe the window expanded in the cold and everything is rubbing right now. Then I found this post out of no where and I was like oh no, I'm not the only one...

Yeah..... It is worse in the cold, but it is still there in the summer. Hopefully this spring, I am going to buy some sound deadening and hope that quiets it down. My luck, it will be so quiet that the things that still rattle will be more noticable! Lol It would be nice not to have to add weight to my car to quiet it, but since I can't find the source, what else can you do.

You said your rattle is on the passenger side right? Because mine is coming from the driver side, might be something different. If my buddy and I can't figure it out I'm taking it to the dealer and they can fix it since my car isn't even a year old yet.

Sucks

To be honest, it sounds like both sides of the dash, the roof, and rattling in the trunk!

Problem is... if you can't find it, THEY can't (or won't). They won't spend as much time on it as you, and, unless they've heard the exact same complaint (recently) they will probably tell you some fantasy story about your mods, driving style, weather conditions, or the position of the moon, and try to walk away from it. You do NEED to know where the noise is coming from. When you can walk into the stealership and say "there's a rattle from the headliner on the front right corner of the moonroof" or the "passenger side door speaker" or the "left rear seatback latch", then you've got positive input that they can't ignore. Haven't been thru this with my coupe yet but I've been there with previous cars... the dealership will find less than 10% of such complaints. YOU need to find them.

Let me tell you what the noise is, because I've been dealing with this BS since day one, it is the sound of AMERICAN workmanship. If these came from Japan I seriously doubt we would have had so many issues! F-U-C-K Y-O-U NISSAN for not maintaining the same standards in America and F You for showing us pathetic commercials that show fake Quality Control!!!!

Got the same noise, found the problem it was coming from the backseat. I remove it and drive around without it, and the noise is gone.

I just got an Altima 3 days ago, found the rattle coming from above the sunglass compartment...there is a metal panel up there thats attached with velcro in my case one of the velcro pieces was not stuck on, I replaced the piece with one I got at Autozone...problem solved...for people with the sunroof there is a clip on the front middle of the sunroof which is accessible when the roof is open take that clip off and slightly pull down the headliner...you will see the culprit
