The cam sensor that came with my car would change the timing depending on how tight each screw was. For example, if you had the cam sensor loose, and had a timing gun going, it would be at 15btdc, now you PUSH on one corner and it shoots to something like 5atdc. WTF?

So I replaced it with another used cam sensor, it seemed fine when I put it on, I just checked my timing today and it is doing the same thing, just not as severly as the old sensor did.

Are these things just pieces of junk or I am getting bad ones? Anyone else experience this?

tighten all 3 corners and see what happens, are you throwing any codes (code 11 is tha CAS code)

also, how are you checking your timing, it is MUCH better to use a spare plug wire between the coil on #1 and the spark plug than that black loop on the back of the engine.

Well yes, it will be stable with all 3 corners down, but then i sort of just keep guessing as to what the timing is, tighten it down and recheck, loosen, move, tighten down, recheck, etc etc.

No codes with either CAS.

Timing is with using the loop, I tried the pain in the *** sparkplug method once and it read exactly the same.

This is not a thread about how my timing is off anyways, it doesnt matter how I check it, I'm talking about the cam sensors fluctuating their readings because you put a slight amount of pressure on one side.

Makes total sense that it would change the timing. The CAS is pretty sensitive.

It makes sense?

So you think it is ok that your timing device changes the timing when you tighten it down?
