Anyone have problems with CD player installation???..Im having electrical issues

The rundown: I have 89 hatch...I got a Kenwood Cd player with it and a harness so that i dont have to chop up my wires...well i plugged all the wires as color coordinated and the cd player works fine..only problem is when the lights are off..my gauge cluster lights are on..if i turn the switch to turn my headlights on..they gauge cluster lights turn off...has anyone had any problems like this?? if so..how do i fix them??? if u have a diagram or some wires have to be connected differently please let me know..

Check your grounds, i had a similar issue except my climate control lights would turn off as soon as i turned on the headlights.

lol...wires intimidate me..so I get friends to do it..or I go to best buy...FREE INSTALLATION!!!
