Wondering if I should install a 4300k kit but don't want to offend other drivers with obscene glare (as I hate it myself when driving my other car and an old civic has ridiculous glare at night that I am blinded from my mirrors)

Looking for cutoff pictures of the light against wall/garage, etc.

Thanks in advance.

i got my kit for both of my cars ( 2nd car being a 2006 hyundai sonata lx limited ) from hidextra, they have top quality kits for a really good price.

I have 10k hids up top in the headlights, and 3k gold hids in the foglights, it looks tight, and really good. The headlights on our pathfinders are good because i this kit gives off less glare than stock yellow headlights on other cars, and i think only 1 time in the year i have them have someone flashed their highbeams at me, other than that no one. Plus i have to say i was blown away after i installed this kit as i can see the road so much farther ahead its like i have highbeams on when i dont.

I also have the same setup in my 06 sonata , but the headlights have projectors, i have 10k up top, and 3k at bottom.

website is hidextra.com , i really have to vouch for them as their kits are good, and exceptional pricing, if you are skeptical as i was with the first one i got, theres many reviews out there, toyota forums, lexus forums etc.

heres another post i put up for another memeber that wanted to see where i mounted the ballasts for the headlights, but you can also see how my setup looks

why would you go with 10k HIDs? Taht is probably the worst color for performance other than 12K you could choose. 6k would be the max I would go with from a light "performance" standpoint. However, to look "tight", the 10k or 12K kit is best. :frown:

To the OP - are LE Platinum PFs outfitted with HIDs? If so, what is the p/n of their headlights. If it is the same as my lowly SE, then an HID kit shouldn't be too bad. However, HID light and halogen light will still produce glare. I do not believe that one form of light will produce less glare than another when in the same fixture. That glare may not be as noticeable as the glare from the other bulb type, but the glare is still present. Also, brighter light, brighter glare...right

Now, I could have this all backwards. Maybe PF SE headlights are LE Platinum headlights and it is the SE light with the halogen bulb that is doing it wrong. I am not sure how Nissan has the North American light designed. I have noticed a distinct, euro spec like cutoff ( ___/____/) on our SE. There is some glare (random light) present above the hood line. The best way to tell is to park about 25' (8m) from a wall. Any light above the hood line is this glare that can blind other drivers.

USDOT says that headlights need to through light up to illuminate overhead signs. I believe this law is really old and should be removed from the light code and very few overhead signs need illuminating. Does anyone know if the USDOT has revised automotive lighting performance?

Remember that not even OE HIDs are perfect (I'm talking about you Maxima).

I believe the housings are the same with the SE and LE, thus it does not come with factory projector HIDs (like the QX4's do). From my understanding, you are correct about the glare issue. If the bulb types are the same, then putting higher output bulbs (or HID) into factory housings will just amplify the glare produced from the stock halogen bulb in the housing.

10K HID is pretty much useless for night driving, 3k fogs are good in actual fog. any HID kit above 4300k reduces actual usable light output, which is why all OEM projector HIDs are 4300k-4500k. The "blue" effect is just the projector's concave glass refracting (which sometimes produces a sort of rainbow effect due to the light prism)

With the 99-04 year, it's either a Hi/Lo kit or Bi-Xenon...one HID bulb with a magnet to flick high beams...because of the single 90003/HB2/H4 bulbs that do both low beam and high beam.

I just have to say if you guys think 10k is useless for night driving i have to strongly disagree as you can see really far and good with these 10k hids
