The headlights on our pathfinders are good because i this kit gives off less glare than stock yellow headlights on other cars, and i think only 1 time in the year i have them have someone flashed their highbeams at me...
I also have the same setup in my 06 sonata , but the headlights have projectors, i have 10k up top, and 3k at bottom.
why would you go with 10k HIDs? Taht is probably the worst color for performance other than 12K you could choose. 6k would be the max I would go with from a light "performance" standpoint. However, to look "tight", the 10k or 12K kit is best.
To the OP - are LE Platinum PFs outfitted with HIDs? If so, what is the p/n of their headlights. If it is the same as my lowly SE, then an HID kit shouldn't be too bad. However, HID light and halogen light will still produce glare. I do not believe that one form of light will produce less glare than another when in the same fixture. That glare may not be as noticeable as the glare from the other bulb type, but the glare is still present. Also, brighter light, brighter glare...right
Now, I could have this all backwards. Maybe PF SE headlights are LE Platinum headlights and it is the SE light with the halogen bulb that is doing it wrong. I am not sure how Nissan has the North American light designed. I have noticed a distinct, euro spec like cutoff ( ___/____/) on our SE. There is some glare (random light) present above the hood line. The best way to tell is to park about 25' (8m) from a wall. Any light above the hood line is this glare that can blind other drivers.
USDOT says that headlights need to through light up to illuminate overhead signs. I believe this law is really old and should be removed from the light code and very few overhead signs need illuminating. Does anyone know if the USDOT has revised automotive lighting performance?
Remember that not even OE HIDs are perfect (I'm talking about you Maxima).
