Anyone have or ever had a drift R/C car?

Nissan dominates the drift scene - Always has, always will.

This is another part of my marketing COM project this semester and I, as always, appreciate any responses :thumbsup Please be as brief, or as detailed as you wish.

Anyone have or ever had a drift R/C car?

If so what brand?

How do you like it?

How much did you pay?

Does it help you cure some drift crave when you can make it out to drifting events?

Do you think one brand of drift R/C car is better than another?

Anything else you want to say about it?

Thanks!!! :thumbsup

-Daniel

I do, to save a little money on a real car (my car is a DD)

The car is a RS X-Mod, 1/28 scale.

I like it, alot.

To buy it, $50. The modifications, I really cant remember, but around 100+.

It does cure the drift crave, but only because I can "drift meet" with my brother on our home made course.

I dont too much about other brands, but I know theres a certain brand/scale of R/C that actually drifts like a real car.

Not too much else to say, but that it saves a couple thousand dollars in crash dollars. (^_^)

I got a 4wd nitro car. I use pvc pipe around my wheels. Its fun. Doesnt cure drift crave. Cost me to much to maintain since I push the thing to hard since its a toy.

i have had a few and drivin alot more, they can be alot of fun but also hurt the pocket. i have a Nitro TC3 right now with just a hard compound tire for high speed drifting. the pvc tires are ok on my traxxas 4tec electric but they fried my esc (electronic speed control).

the ultimate drift "R/C" car that i had was a nitro rs4 from hpi, i had about 1200 into the car not including the car bodies.

To beginers getting into the sport i would not recomend getting right into the nitro cars, due to tuning so much and keeping it running and maintained. the best bang for your buck i would say would be the yokomo drifter RTR (ready to run). the coolest thing about them is the car bodies, you can buy one brand new with a S13,s15,ae86 or even the hks genki s15 with super advans (the only way you can get the super advans) and the tires have plastic rings that you put around them so the tires dont wear out too fast and the rings i thing are priced vary well.

I hoped this helped and here is a pic of the genki S15

I have a Yokomo drift car that I love.

It's a blue 180sx and it rocks. I use ABS plastic tires and a 3200mhz battery with my factory yokomo 25turn drift spec motor and I can keep it sideways at 10-40mph in a abandoned parking lot (fresh paved......must be smooth as glass) across the street for a full run which is ~15minutes. That always cures my drift itch. Especially when I tandem whith my buddies Nitro RS-4. You really don't need all that expensive crap on a drift car. All you need is 25+turn motor and 4-wheel drive.....lsd's don't hurt either.

It's down right now because I put slicks on it to see what it could do and I broke a dogbone coupler at top speed causing me to head on a curb and it broke the suspension tower. I just need some spare cash to fix it (parts can only be ordered from Yokomo) and all my money keeps ending up going to the 240.

i have the yokomo blue s13 (ya i painted it blue... the box convinced me) with a 8 turn. i love it to death... but i found better things to spend my money on (my real car). i spent waaaay too much time and money on r/c cars, from nitro to electric.i have a tc3 electric and gas (the gas one is for sale if anyone is interested... never been driven, just assembled).. tc3s are hard as heck to drift, but are such good track cars. --------------------------------------------------------------------yokomo drift kit= $2508 turn single = $803000mah battery packs = $20 each (each last a good 15 minutes, but after you let the speed control cool)speed control w/ reverse = $120rc controller w/ servos = $80lexan paint = $5custom speed control cooler (radio shack electric fan) = $5soldering kit = $20-30custom FMIC (just for looks http://www.briansmodelcars.com...age=1) = $10legally drifting in your front yard = priceless

it does however feed my drift craze... but the adrenaline (if any) is no where near the real thing. i wouldnt even think about drifting in a nitro car.... too fast, too furious, too expensive to repair... plus i think the speed makes it hard to control in smaller courses
