Why would you want a Jap ps2? Are their games that much better?

that universal ps2 on ebay was actually a chipped ps2. they cant post that the ps2 is chipped so tehy get around it by saing its universal and hope people figure it out. and you dont really need a chip to play import, a swap disc or hd advance will work just fine, and u dont even need to open it up!

on the memory card issue, i can save both us and jap games on my us memory cards. and did u see the vid i posted of kaido battle 2 (import) ?

i havent had a problem with it playing imports yet, ive played (racing games) - gran turismo 4 prolouge, kaido battle, WRC 3, (anime games) - Naruto, Inuyasha, Fullmetal alchemest, and (weird *** konami game thats actually to be released stateside shortly) - katamari damacy.

but thats all ive played for imports, no personal experience with others... but there really isnt a reason why they shouldnt, unless ur laser is wearing out. but then ud have trouble playing all games, lol

not quite sure what u meant, but on the dvd issue, we are the same region as japan (NTSC region 4) so movies dont pose as big as a problem as games....

also on this subject i just remember

sony's PSP will probably be REGION FREE! (since PSP users are mobile and travel to different regions, they can still buy software where they travel)

Japanese PS2s are easy to come by, I recommend the following sites:

http://www.buyrite.nethttp://www.ncsx.com

There are some issues with the memory cards issued with the original Japanese SCPH-10000 -version PS2s working with the US PS2s, but those cards are rare anyway. I have a modified PS2 and it works great.

If you go to buyrite, you can still get the limited-edition white PS2 that comes bundled with GT4: Prologue, killer deal.

Yes, and Japanese driving games rule. Initial D, Kansai Battle, etc... Lots of stuff we don't get here.

naruto is awesome, one of the best fighting games, and ill prolly get its sequal when it comes out at the end of teh month, inuyasha is a horrible RPG. i gave up on it. FMA is ok... the show>>>the game
