Earlier today I sent off emails to the 11 dealers in my area through the Nissan web page asking for price quotes. One of the dealers quoted $300 over invoice, minus any rebates. But that leaves me wondering, exactly what is invoice on the 2008s? Anyone got a breakdown of the invoice pricing on the 08 Versa and different option packages yet?

Don't the 08's cost the same as the 07's?

I would have thought the pricing hasn't changed, but what do I know?

EV would be the person to ask, as he almost ordered an '08

Use the Edmunds invoice calculator for an '07, then add $100 and that should be pretty close to accurate.

And being quoted "minus rebates" on an '08 is somewhat funny, as they won't have rebates on them until this time next year. The '07 has a $500 rebate and special financing right now.

If you're looking for an '08, you might as well order now. that should be the correct amount of time for the special order to be processed and have the car come in with the first batch of '08's.

Well, they basically said 'any rebates that may apply at the time the car is delivered'. So if Nissan is offering a rebate when the car arrives in September, they'll give it.

Looking at the calculator on the 07s on edmunds.com, the invoice price for the SL with CVT, ABS, and convenience with destination charge is $16,530. The offers I've been getting have all been around $16,700 or $16,800. I can't imagine the invoice price on the 08s to be that much different. I'll try to play the dealers off against one another to see if I can get a better price, but do these prices sound reasonable compared to what some of the rest of you paid?

One of the dealers said they could find two 07s with just the ABS and convenience package on another dealer's lot, which made me go "Huh?" Everything that I saw both from emailing Nissan, and checking their car builder tool before the 08s were announced, and also on here said you couldn't get ABS and the convenience package on the 07s without buying just about every other option offered on the car.

Actually, there are a FEW '07 SL CVT's with ABS and Convenience without the rest of the packages. Sadly, there were no '07 SL 6MTs in that configuration. I didn't believe it myself until my sales guy at the dealership showed me the entry for the one he found.

As best as I can tell, these cars were aberrations. Sometimes if a car company runs short on parts for a given config, but has lots of other parts left over, they will mix and match to get rid of their old parts, making combinations that otherwise would not be available.

Also, since they're 07's, you get the rebate and special financing on them... so if your dealer CAN get you one, it might be prudent to take them up on the offer.

Well, I tried a credit application on the Nissan web page and they denied me but said to go to the dealer (even though my credit score is in the 720s, go figure). I qualified for 6.25% financing both from Capital One and my credit union, so even if I don't get the special NIMC financing at least I'll only be paying 1.25% more from a regular lending source.

If I can find out which dealer has the 'special' 07s I might see if I can get one, but several sources said to be leery about cars transferred from one dealer to another, since only the original dealer gets the holdback.

Probably just going to go for an 08 though. That will give me more time to arrange to sell my Corolla and save a down payment so I don't have to finance as much. Right now I only have $1,500.

Update here.

I'm a Costco member, and one of the local dealers is a Costco auto buying club member. I enquired on the Costco price, and they said that not only was it cheaper ($200 over invoice) but that they had an unclaimed 08 coming on August 8th with the options I wanted in one of the colors I want (magnetic gray). This gives me two weeks to sell my Corolla and I get paid twice in the meantime, which should raise my down payment to around $5,000. Out the door price they quoted was around $18,600.

Should I jump on it?

Local costco dealer, eh? C-N? They're good to deal with...

It's entirely up to you... you should be able to get that price any time with the costco discount, but if they know they are going to have a car you like, that's always a good thing.

Well, I did it. One of the other dealers offered a lower price, and the dealer I was going to go to for the Costco price opted to match it. So the final price ended up being $16,651, drive out price of $18,333. So I took it.

I'm now the proud owner of a magnetic gray 08 that will supposedly arrive on 8-8-07. Now that's a lucky number.

Nissan of Fife. Checked them out with the BBB and they had a 'satisfactory' record. Plus I couldn't find any complaints about them online.

Congrats on the purchase.

Now we need to get the seattle area V owners together. There's only what, close to a dozen of us on this board?
