For a firearm? I have held a concealed weapons permit for sometime and now that my car is finally about ready for the street I don't want to loose it. I live in Philadelphia which isn't a bad city, but it has its parts and people do get car jacked so that bothers me. A two way alarm wont save your life or keep you car but something else may.

Recently I upgraded seats from the J30 leather to some fixed bride buckets. I hardly fit in the seat and I'm not that big (195lbs). With that said I cant wear it when in the 240sx.

I was thinking about mounting something for accessibility. Fixing a holster to the car for when I am in it.

Please let me know you thoughts of the location or where you keep yours if you also carry legally.

I had these in mind.

Very easy to reach here with no body movement. But visible from both sides. Still easy to get to, but requires a lean forward. Easy to get to when going to open door

i keep mine between the seat and center consol, very accessable, no holster, just tucks in, and not visible from outside.

BUT i have it in my civic. havent tried this location in my 240 yet.

also i have a taurus Millium, which is smaller than what looks to be a 1911 from your pics.

i also have taurus 24-7, which i belive is close to size of a 1911 (if that is what u have) and it wont "tuck" in as much, and may be a little visible from the outside.

Its a S&W 910. I was thinking of unclipping from the pants (in pants holster) and onto a bracket.

What do you think is the best of the 3 locations? On the door seems iffy because it would suck if someone else opened it.

So far I like next to the shifter passenger side because its literally right in reach.

Well I would have an 2way alarm regardless. So then you can run out there with your gun. I would rather people see me the gun if they are about to car jack me. So either A- they run (most will) or B- they shoot (99% won't).

The driver-operated flame thrower is the latest weapon in the arsenal deployed by people nervous about rising crime.

The Blaster's inventor, Charl Flourie, said: "I am the last person to want to burn anyone. But if someone attacks you, they will kill you, they will rape you, and they will maim you." The device is built into the car doors and is operated by pushing a button beside the foot pedals. It sends a fireball as high as a person from the car, engulfing the hijacker without endangering the passengers or damaging the auto's paint.
Still pending legality in the US

Its not an auto KA its a LS6-TH350 combo, shifter is a Hurst promatic 2. Just flips forward to shift with ease, and is a full lockout.

I have a 2 way still, but doesn't do much if I am in the car already and some lowlife is trying to rip me out of it. Its just that added benefit. I was robbed gunpoint at 18 when I was leaving work going to the bank to make the daily work deposit. Its nice to know you might have a fighting chance if that person is the type who doesn't care if you live or die.

Holy s***. I never been robbed at gunpoint but glad your still alive! But still, I would relinquish whatever the robber wanted. I value my life over a car. Anyday. I love cars, don't get me wrong. But I would rather live another day. But that's just me. All this aside, people who rob suck. I hope you never have to use it

yea i dont think the door is a good place, 1 b/c of what u said, about it being opened, but also if ur right handed it could be a hassle to get to in an emergency.

problem that i would have with the "by shifter passenger side", to clarify ur talking about like infront of the seat?, would be that its visable, i dunno ur state laws but in texas handgun must not be in plain sight.

Well yeah the point is to have it and not need it rather then need it and not have it.

The car is mega clean, very rumbly, and catches eyes. I have been in the process of building it for three years so its just insurance. Gun point is one thing but incase my door flies open and some hood rat is tell me to get out I'm hitting the gas, but if there is no place to flee to I reaching for it.

i like the first position best.

the second one looks like itd block the glovebox from opening with the gun mounted.

id be iffy about the one on the door because its not visible from the drivers side window, which might be a problem if a cop didnt notice it or something. also, i dont really trust having weight on the door panels due to their...oldness.

my two cents.

I installed a jumbo size maglite between the door and the seat on my sister's maxima. It was a pretty easy spot to subtly get at (hard plastic clip screwed into the floor), also the angles are too sharp to be able to see from the outside. I wouldn't want someone seeing that next to the glovebox and breaking into the car just for the gun.

No the gun doesn't stay in the car, its always with me. Just for when I am in the car because its impossible to sit in the fixed buckets with a side holster. The holster would also be removable.

I usually carry my Glock 30 right in between the console and my seat. Right where the waistbelt clip is. That's with stock seats though. I'm not sure how much clearance there is with those Brides. I figure if a jacker is trying to get the car, I'll have to unbuckle the waist belt. When I reach for that, I can grab the gun instead. Or, if he just wants my money, I'll act like i'm reaching in my back pocket and grab the gun.

To lower suspicious movements and possibly alarming the jacker, I think you have to have an excuse for your movements. I would imagine they would say,"Shut the car off and get out." or "Gimme your wallet". Well, I can't do any of those without reaching in the general direction of my gun. So that gives me the chance to reach for it.

I'm thinking the passenger side dash placement would be easily accessible; but kinda hard to do quickly or casually with a gun in your face.

Thats not going to work if you want to keep the permit. You must have it concealed period.Where you want to place the pistol is still visible from that sideholstered or not.I have had my ccw for 3 years. To this day i remember the sheriff saying if i see it anywhere on you or in the vehicle the permit is gone. You must have it concealed period.Just keep it on you or in the console.Trust me unless the law varies from states i wouldn't do it.

first position for sure. second isnt bad, but pretty damn visible. even to cops and stuff. just seems like a PITA. i probably wouldnt do the door though. A) could be grabbed by someone else who opens the door. B) seems like it would be hard to get at in quick situations where you need it NOW

I might be wrong but I don't think you're allowed to mount it in the open like that...conceal carry is just that concealed. I'd call your local police department and ask them to be sure. Usually if it out in the open the the loaded clip needs to be in a lock box in the trunk or lockable glove box

Do you live in west or north philly? If no honestly I wouldn't worry about it just avoid bad neighborhoods at night

It varies VERY MUCH from state to state. I live in Phoenix, which is probably way different than Philly.

But definitely read up on your PA laws. And if you get stopped by the fuzz, ALWAYS tell them that you have a firearm in the vehicle. They appreciate the gesture and usually just have you put it on top of the car while they are writing you a damn ticket. jerks....

The more i think about it state to state shouldn't matter much concealed. Now if you have a professional permit ie ( armored truck, off or on duty security or police) then it can be or actually must be in plain view.Concealed is concealed no matter where you are.

The state of Pennsylvania issues a "License to Carry" which allows loaded guns on your person or property to be concealed or not. It is actually legal in all counties except for Philadelphia or Pittsburgh to carry an unloaded weapon on your person openly (visible) without a permit.

I just checked with the local precinct and with the "Ask the law" section of our local tuners forum.

Both answers were yes you can place the gun in your vehicle (showed photo), but it was not recommended by the one officer. The Pennsylvania permit permits OPEN CARRY, but being that the county of Philadelphia can supersede state law its not recommended to have it in open view while in Philadelphia.

However I will go with my first option.

I am permitted have to have it loaded on my person or in my vehicle while in the state of PA. So having it mounted there, just sitting on the passenger seat, on my hip, or in the glove box is legal as long as I have a PA License to Carry which I do.
