Engine shop just called and said my cylinder walls are .007" out of tolerance and the options are either

oversized pistons/borenew block

So anyone have some aftermarket oversized pistons?Or a good block? Even though with the block theres a chance it's not within tolerance either then I am back to square one, just poorer.

If someone does have a block I would have to get it worked out with you to get it checked so that it's within spec.

Thanks all

You're the one making irrelevant post.

It wasn't irrelevant it was advice to get pistons not another block.

But since you want to get sand in your clit let me give you some more advice. Go **** yourself, with or without cake.

I wont get involved in the irrelevant post debate...

Oversize pistons would be the wisest move you could make, if you source another block you may have the same problem..

The fundamental reason for manufacturing oversize pistons is exactly for your current situation..

The reason you would source another block is if you have increased bore size to maximum stated tolerance..

Most off the shelf CA pistons are max 40 thou, however I have heard of custom 60 thou pistons being made but that is asking for cylinder wall cracks unless the block is also strengthened..

yeah your could go with 83.5mm pistons so you bore the absolute minimum (.020")

Is it possible to insert a sleeve in the bores so the stock pistons fit?

you could, but that would end up being the most costly, time consuming, and redundent approaches you could take.

there are even OEM oversize pistons available, but likely cost more than a set of aftermarket forged pistons.

As the others have stated, the CHEAPEST and most reliable route is going to be purchasing a set of 5mm (.020") over-sized pistons. CP has them sitting on the shelf right now and will run you about $450 the last time I checked.

why does ebay have them at $670? $450 isn't too bad considering it includes rings, which would have run me $65. So really I'd be looking at 450-65+185 for maching which isn't too bad.

Should I call CP?

And TMS, i'm sry but I started this thread knowing I would most likely have to buy pistons or abandon this project. I even stated the flaw myself in buying another engine block. I also wanted to see if anyone had used/new oversized pistons for cheaper. This is upsetting and you're post didn't help whatsoever. Let's forget it.

His post wasn't as detailed as you would have liked it but it was 100% relevant. In your post you straight ask if anyone has a block and about getting a block. He said get pistons which cuts your question in half. He didn't have any himself to sell you but he still gave you sound advice. Furthermore, before you say something about me defending him... i'm not. I'm mad because you turned on him when he didn't give you the exact response you were looking for.

Check out Race Engineering HERE.

Don't get the Wiseco pistons!!! They don't have the notch for the oil squirters and you have to do stupid shtuff to make them work.
