anyone have an 86' nissan compact truck with carburated engine

It might be helpful if you posted in the appropriate section. It would also be a lot more helpful if you posted which engine you had.

yeah you'll want to look in the truck ro datsun area depending on the motor, if it's a pre 86.5 (not a hardbody) then it's likely got the ZZ24 and the datsun are might be more helpful, if it's a 86.5 (hardbody) then it's either the KA24E or the VG30E in which case the frontier hardbody are would yield better results

I don't believe the Hardbody got the KA until 1990 models. My 87 Hardbody had the Z24 motor.

really? my hardbody was an SEV6 and every other hardbody I've seen was ka or vg, but I never really paid much attention to the years, I guess they might have all been newer

Almost positive. If I remember correctly, there was a big jump in the HP rating for the 1990 models with the 4 cylinder engine. I believe that's when they went with the KA. But I remember very clearly the engine in my 87 having a "Z" on the cover and having 8 spark plugs. Two for each cylinder. Which I believe was not an offering of the KA motors ever.

just occoured to me ti says arburated, I am pretty sure all the ahrdody's got fuel injection, at anyrate, get the engine code and call Nissan Motorsports, they have cams and pistons for just about every Nissan/Datsun motor
