I bought the b and m knock off shifter from ebay to stop the stick from shaking side to side at idle since it replaces the whole assembly. It was awesome for the past 3 months with no problems and was extremely tight for these months but it has gone from "as tight as my 1st girlfriend" to "as loose as a hoodrat backstage at the source awards". I opened up the boots and found that all the screws were tight and there appeared to be no missing pieces, does anyone know of a good fix for this or reasons this may be happening?

Did you check the small plastic bushing on the bottom of the shifter?

Yep that was the problem the bushing it came with was completly worn away, good thing I had a new nissan one laying around- I lubed it up and tapped it into place. It feels new again.

Thanks for your help- I just didnt want to take it apart again...

alot of those knock off short shifters come with **** bushings so it is best just to use the OEM Nissan ones right off the bat.

Which B&M knock-off did you buy and how much did it cost?

got it from the seller 101propose on ebay for about $70, he is actually sending mea couple of bushings for free. This shifter does not vibrate like i have heard with b and m, thats why i bought it. I did find a cheaper one here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItemthey look the EXACT same. To install make SURE you have a ratcheting wrench and to loosen the trans crossmember about halfway down, past that it is pretty easy and will clear up most of the shifter wobbling.

GOOD LUCK!
