I am interested in installing KYB shocks and Tein springs on my S13 hatch. Does anyone happen to have a how to guide for me to follow for the install? Thanks.

BTW I did search...

use a spring compressor, other than that it's pretty straight forward.

You dont need a spring compressor, just put the together like the stock ones and when you unbolt the top nut face it away from you.

Rent one from autozone, it's a 20 or 40 dollar deposit, and you get your money back when you return it.

Don't risk it, just use it for safety sake.

Not using a spring compressor is a good way to ****ing lose a limb... or a face.

2 bolts hook up to the brakes, 100+ ft/lbs torque iircbolts in the top, undo them after u compress the spring

straight forward install =]

ull need an aligment after wards

goodluck

I've never had to use a spring compressor in my life. (unless I was putting back oem springs).

Seriously though... you really don't need it..

1) Unbolt the strut towers nuts. 6 Up front (3 on both sides), 4 in the back (2 on each side)2) then slowly raise your car. Eventually, the stuts would unbolt itself front the strut towers.

DONE. Spring compressor, not needed.

A guy that lived in the development over from me died from a spring popping him in the face a few years back.

Better safe then dead i always say.

You can rent springs compressors from AutoZone for $50 , and when you return it , they give you back your $50.

OMG my friend was standing over his shock and springs ready to take the nut off with his face right over it! Me and my buddy screamed at him and luckily he didnt follow through.

My buddy and I proceeded to show him how dumb it was by angeling it away from us and using a really long wrench to pop it off. It shot a good 30 feet across the front yard.

Yeah, his face would have been DONE if we didnt stop him.

Yes sir. Have you never seen how fast those springs shoot out? We did one in the garage just for laughs and it left a big dent in the ceiling. I also did this a few years ago just being an idiot , and the spring shot from my driveway and hit the side of my neighbors house.

yea.. I can see it happen. I mean, them springs are strong when depressed.

but you guys understand my method though right? I mean... it seems somewhat fool-proof. After the spring un-compresses itself after you slowly lift the car, theres no place for it to shoot out when still under the wheel wells.

either way... if you got $50 to spare, safer > sorry (or dead)
