I have a drawing (in .dxf format) that I'd like to (possibly) have replicated in sheetmetal.

ahh, I don't have access to a CAD/CAM machine. Unless you want it virtually replicated?

I am pretty good with AutoCAD, but don't currently have the program. But if you ever need something drawn up in AutoCAD, just provide me with the software and I'll take care of ya

Not sure what you're asking for Greg. You want a CNC program made from a 2-D .dxf template file. Or you have a 3-D model you want to have made out of bent sheet metal?

I don't know ACad but the tool I use can import and export .dxf files. I might be able to help with the latter for creating a template.

I have the 3-D .dxf file, just want someplace that can load it and cut it.

Lemme know what you think Rob...

Maybe this is an un-necessary and stupid it question, but what material do you want to have it cut out of?

I'm thinking aluminum or steel. I don't think it matters much, except that it'll need a few welds, so steel would probably be easier.

It'll need to be "unfolded" first, with relief cuts made at the corners where the bends meet (hope it doesn't have to hold water!). Considerations have to be made for the bend radii depending on the metal thickness, material and temper, plus extra material for the overlaps. I'm not a machinist, but I know even our sophisticated vendors don't have any machines that can directly cut sheet metal from a 3-D model of a "box".
