Here's the scoop on Carsponsorships.
They are a service that helps car owners connect with companies in hopes that they will set up successful sponsorship relationships.
You pay $89 to sign up.. then another monthly fee on top of that.
You (the car owner) are then offered items from the sponsors that are signed up with carsponsorships.com. You get those items at a discounted or "wholesale cost". After installing and showing those items, you are then expected to attend a number of events and shows. AFTER you attend your required events (with proof via pictures, etc..) you may be eligible for a complete refund of the cost of those parts.
SO.. you can still get free stuff... just not directly free. This setup is a garauntee to the sponsor companies that their parts will be displayed at shows and events PRIOR to them giving away their goods.
Carsponsorships.com will of course earn their sign up fee and monthly profit in trade for their efforts to "set up the deal".
Anybody is welcome to sign up! Why would they turn people away right?
The detail that I'm still foggy on is "how many events do you have to attend to qualify to get your money back on the parts you are repping".
So.. is it a scam? No! It's not a scam. People just don't educate themselves before going into it. They expect free stuff in a sponsorship and when they are asked to pay upfront they freak out.
Is it a real sponsorship? Sort of.. It's really built to benefit the companies rather than the car owners. The system is made to garauntee that the items are displayed at events prior to being "comped" to the car owner.
Would I sign up? No... simply because I have little to no desire to acquire any of the parts that carsponsorships.com is affiliated with. It seems to be a lot of cosmetic upgrades rather than performance upgrades...
If they ever sign up companies like Apexi, Greddy, Garrett, HKS, etc.... Then I'd be willing to give it a shot.
