I am interested in doing this mod. Wondering what it does for you and how much it costs. Also, how simple was the install?

Install is super simplefor all Nissans.

Even I can do it ( thats saying a lot:oface)

JWt is know for its poor service and follow up, might be simpler to just go thru Stillen they will mark it up a tad but not too mcuh and you actually have folks to talk to ( even tho Stillen has had its less than stellar service too, but still better than JWT, who often dont answer phones/email at all).

Costs depend on what kind of car the ECU is for, for my car (Q45) it's $700 if memory serves.

What mods do you have on your 98? Do you have the ka motor still in or an sr20det? If you have just the basic intake/header/exhaust then dont go JWT as the cost factor for such little gain. You basically send them your computer and they put a reprogrammed daughter board on it that has different maps for your fuel and a few other things. You stock ecu is more than capable of handleing these things but you could buy an Apex safc off of ebay pretty cheap. Only thing about that is that it requires some tuning. But tuning on basic mods would only take an hour on the dyno. I have the JWT ecu with an sr20det and it is worth it. It picked up quit a bit of HP and a 7700 rpm redline and I also have the afc and the acvr. It cost me 600 and you either have to send them yours and pay about 600 or pay IIRC 1200 while you drive on your ecu they tuned one and send it out to you and then you send them yours and they refund the other 600. It takes five minutes to uninstall oem and install new one. Easy..

Actually for the 97-98 240's, it's not super simple. it is still simple. But you do have to switch a couple of wires and use an O2 sensor from a 95-96 with an adapter and run one more wire to it. JWT can not reprogram the 97-98 ECU. Only the 95 or 96. The 96 ECU is a better option as it requires less changes.

Does this mean that I could get a 96 ECU, plug it in, and get performance gains since there is less to change?

No, what I meant was that the 96 ECU requires less changes to the factory wiring to make it work with the 98 motor. That is...less than using a 95 ECU. You'll want to have JWT tune it or it would be rather useless since the programming would be similar or possibly exactly the same.

That's cool. I am thinking that with a stock KA, the safc may be a better bet. I read the specs on it at apex's site and it seems cool.
