Just wondering. I usually go Easter Sunday morning to avoid the crowds. May also go to the Jalopnik party tomorrow.

I am sure someone could talk me into getting some Korean fried chicken nearby or a day drinking trip to McSorley's.

That sounds like so much fun. Sadly I'm stuck down south.

The new Miata is not there. Just the next-gen chassis with no body on it yet.

There is quite an impressive display of Miata's for the 25th anniversary though.

LOL at how much Miata is in this thread.

The chassis they showed communicated a ton of potential to me. I'm closely watching what comes out of it.

Also hearing rumors of Mazda going AWD for the next Speed3. If they do, then Subaru better watch out.

This place is saturated with Miata owners now, if you didn't notice ;)

They're claiming the next Miata will be around the same weight as the original. 660lbs shaved off the chassis is a good start and if they get rid of that dumb retractable hard top that'll shave off plenty of weight too.

If they go AWD with the Speed3, there will most certainly be one sitting in my driveway. That is probably the only thing I have against it right now and it's not really that big of a deal.

^ That would make for some awesome AWD miata swaps.

Subaru will have their hands full with a real competitor if the speed 3 rumor comes to fruition. They've enjoyed that market place niche for a long time and have done really well with it. I'm surprised that very few others are really playing in their park.

If you are a Miata fan, then NY was the place to be this year. There were dozens from the past 25 years. A few pics I took of the new chassis:

For Nissan, starting downstairs:

Murano looks pretty good in the flesh (better than in pictures). Spotted big aluminum wishbones on the front suspension. There have obviously been aero tweaks to the design, particularly around the rear window and the huge deflectors ahead of the front wheels. While it is hard to see in the pictures, there appears to be mounting points on the inside of the roof rails.

I have so many more pictures... let me know if there is anything you want to see and I will take a look.

Overall it was pretty good for NY this year. Tokyo set my expectations pretty high. I also wish there wasn't the Beijing overlap... the Lannia looks pretty interesting (let's hope it replaces the Versa sedan)

Hmmm. the Maxima concept's side view is growing on me a bit, though rear visibility appears non-existent. The front view still makes me shrug as the angry beaver tooth grill just doesn't work. Reminds me of Acura putting the stink in distinctive by uglying up their noses with a chromy blade just to make them look unique.

perhaps it's me, but I find it difficult to get excited about the newest GT-R, as it's essentially the same car as the previous 8 years. Upgrading with even more carbon fiber body cladding and red painted grill accents make me yawn.

The Maxima concept does look better in person. I have a feeling it will get a bit more glass, but I am going to hold judgment till I sit in one. Similar to the Murano, while the the C pillar is thick longitudinally (profile view), it really isn't that thick horizontally. Looking back from the driver's seat at a diagonal, the blind spot may not be too bad. But it is kind of hard to judge from the outside. For example, sit in a GTR and then sit in a Camaro-- they may look like they have similar visibility from the outside, but the Camaro feels like sitting in a cave in comparison due to the horizontal thickness of the pillars.

And I think we are all ready for the next GTR. The carbon fiber is functional (actually replacing panels and parts like the mirror), but it would be good to see it on a new shape.
