I received my new work phone yesterday, a Droid X, as an upgrade from my older BlackBerry. The BlackBerry's bluetooth sync worked flawlessly and the phonebook downloaded with no issues. With the Droid I've gotten it to sync on the Acura and the BMW with no issues except on the car I drive all the time (my 2007 G35X :) ) it will sync BUT when I go to make a call the sound goes up and down and I can hear the person talking but they can't hear me. I've tried un-pairing and re-paring it a couple of times and it's always the same.

I've seen a couple people that seem to have the same issue and others telling them their doing it wrong :poke: . So I was wondering if anyone on this board has been able to sync a Droid X and have it work properly.

Thanks!

For people to hear you when paired with the Droid X you have to switch the call to the handset and then back to the car by hitting the phone icon on the wheel. You can do this when the phone is ringing as you place a call or immediately after answering a call.

EDIT: I've tested this workaround with my Droid X and it works.

Reportedly Froyo (Android 2.2) has better bluetooth support and should fix the problem.

I've tried the workaround you gave and it does work, definitely not convenient, but it works. Thank you! Come on Froyo, looks like September now...

Do you have good sound quality when using the bluetooth? The volume on mine seems to go up and down quite quickly. If you do, could you tell me if you have the 'extended stereo' or 'voice privacy' turned on or off?

Thanks again.

Once I found the workaround online I haven't had any problem with the sound quality or volume using bluetooth. A few days ago my calls were dropping at exactly 20 seconds, though. I removed the car from my known device list and repaired it. That seemed to work.

I do not have the "enhanced stereo" option on the phone enabled. I left everything as the default. I also haven't toyed with any of the advanced car settings for bluetooth.

Mine connects, calls, and answers fine, but the address book doesn't load into the car phonebook. When the handset's address book is displayed, the phone name entrees are too long and the phone numbers are not displayed so they can be chosen. Manually loading individual numbers into the vehicle phone book is tedious.

My Droid X now works perfectly with my car's Bluetooth. It sounds good and people can actually hear me talk without having to push a bunch of buttons - it just works like it's supposed to. How you may ask? I downloaded the 'leaked' Froyo 2.2 and it works perfectly. The PUSH from my corporate email works now as well. All is well again :) If you don't want to download the leaked version, the real version should be out in a couple of weeks and should fix everything just as well.

Oh, as for the address book, I still don't see a way to get the phone to upload....

The OTA Froyo worked perfectly. Now Bluetooth works as intended.

To send your phonebook, open your contact list, press menu, select more, and then select "Share name cards". Then you select the people to send. Make sure you have selected the "download all" option on the car first. Then select to send the list via Bluetooth on the phone.
