So I was snowboarding on Thursday of last week, took one really hard fall over the crest of a hill landing with all of my weight (around 200 pounds) directly on the right side of my rib cage. It hurt like a ***** to get up, but I boarded the rest of the day anyhow, cautiously enough that I didn't fall again. So now, less than a week later, the ribs hurt no matter what position I'm in, and unless I'm retarded I think they're depressed about a centimeter into my chest. Anyone bruised ribs before, and is this normal? <- Face of a man determined not to go to the doctor. Thanks!

When I was younger I either bruised or cracked a rib, not sure since I never went to the doctor, when I was innertubing. Hitting water at about 45 mph is very painful. But the pain did go away after a week or two, don't really remember how long it took since it was several years ago.

i got a bruised rib after my friend shot a spud cannon at my back. he gave me a big one, but i immediately turned around and gave him at least 10 good sized bruises

i dont really think you have anything to worry about, but just for safety's sake i would call up the doc and let him check you out. if it somehow is broken you dont want to keep it like that. and even if it is just a bruised rib, you'll probably get some meds for it. better safe than sorry, right?

Ouch...that cant be good. I'd have it looked at. Unfortunatley if it is broken there is not much you can do for it besides take pain meds. It should heal in about two months. I hope you get better soon

It took me about a month or so b4 they let me play baseball. I would get it checked out

And as we all know, prescription pain meds=fun

*ahem* I do not condone the misuse of prescription narcotics, no matter how under the influence of them I am at the time of writing.

yep, hurt ribs have to be one of the worst injuries. You can't do much without it hurting. One of the next has to be knees. Last winter I F***ed my knee up so bad skiiing. I went to the doctor and they didn't see much wrong, but it is like 75% as strong as before. That'll teach me to jump with 180cm skis .

Amen. I avoid any and all medicines unless I have no choice. With effort, it is possible to shut out pain completely. It becomes easier after a while.

I've never had a bruised rib, but I broke my sternum, probably more than once. It points in now. Advice: watch out for curbs when carrying computers. Ow.

Yea it doesn't feel good. Fallen out of quite a few trees luckily never broken anything though. Who said I couldn't climb to the top of the tree? I got the top branch or what was the top branch right here in my hand. I was too scared to **** myself. Walked away after regaining the breath that was knocked out of me and a knee that hurt like hell.

Haha I do my best to avoid the medicines too, hence my reluctance, but I'm thinking that I could substitute shots of tequila for doses of pain killers, perhaps.

I got bruised ribs and cartridge separation in the middle of my ribcage from an airbag in my first wreck...

It hurts like hell, but does heal.
