I recently aquired a 89 240sx hatchback with 189000 miles suprisingly it runs pretty decent I must confess ive never had any intrest in cars like this I picked it up for $300 bucks to save me some money on gas But after driving it around I really like the car it handles awesome and has some of the best brakes ive used im impressed!!........ Anyways the rear frame rails are pretty badly rusted and the rocker panel under the drivers door has a nice large hole in it I doubt anyone makes rocker repair kits for this car but if you know of anyone please let me know if i have to make my own patch it could hurt someone.... I have unlimited access to gm parts and someone told me that somebody out there sells a kit to convert to a gm 3800 engine If anyone has ever heard of this let me know Cause if the frame isnt beyond repair im going to fix the car up alittle

I'm glad you can actually respect a car for its abilities, reguardless of make. Not to say you've converted to Nissans or anything, but at least you're not bias.

But let me get one thing straight. You bought it to save money on gas, then you wanna drop in a 3800 series?

Why not drop in a 3.4L 24valve DOHC (if it'll fit), and tune it back up to the 280hp it was supposed to have from the factory? I used to have one of those in my lumina, and let me tell you, they would scream.

I realize this is a nearly 4 year old thread, but it's the only one of it's kind that i found. I'm also contemplating a 3800 v6 swap into my turd project car 240sx. Should be fairly straight forward...

GM Series II engine+Camaro intake manifold+camaro t-5 bellhousing, flywheel, clutch and transmission+custom mounts and exhaust+megasquirt=Profit???

Anybody have any info on such a swap? Looks to be even cheaper than a vq swap with even more displacement, although more weight... Any thoughts?
