I was thinking of running an FMU (8:1 probably). Vortech's unit is 179 give or take and the OBX one is about 90. I was just wondering if anyone has ever used this product. Thanks.

My friend with a turbo neon just purchased one bc he's a cheap skate. It doesn't work very well. I would look at better brands of fmu's like blox, cartech, or vortech.

Seriously....why would you take a chance? OBX can BARELY make a friggin' strut tower brace....god only knows what their "engineers" do in designing fuel management units...

Save up and do it right the first time.

is 12:1 too rich for 8 PSI?I found one made by blox that I like but it is only offered in 12:1. Seems a bit much for me, I was looking to run 8:1 if I decide to get one.

I found this while looking around

FMUs (or rising rate fuel pressure regulators) are usually used to increase the flow of stock injectors when no mangement is present. Since you plan on using an SAFC to meter fuel, you dont need an FMU.

Is this true?

partially true. with an safc you can run larger injectors so you wont need the fmu

stock injectors can barely support 200rwhp, even if you have an safc

Stock fuel PSI is in the 42 to 45 PSI range. A 12:1 FMU is going to add an additional 12 PSI for every 1 PSI of boost. So at 8PSI boost, tack 96 PSI on top of 42 to 45 PSI. It isn't recommended to go over 100 PSI wrt the fuel system. You can run an FMU at 12 PSI (I have) but I wouldn't recommend it for an extended period of usage. You could run a 12:1 temporarily until you can pick up a recalibration kit/disc. Your best bet is to go with a 6:1 or 8:1 FMU disc...that will keep you under (or right at) 100 PSI.

The SAFC is the better of the two, when considered against an FMU. However, both of these options are poor when considering a 300 to 350 HP goal...for this kind of power output range, you need precise fuel delivery across all RPMs and load ranges along with proper ignition control, and you're only going to get that with a standalone or tuned ECU.
