Buying up the needed items to do a swap on the old ladies project car. Has anyone tried the j30 dust shields on a 240?

dust sheilds have they're purpose... :werd: i took off my wheel well covers and now whenever it rains water gets splashed right into the intake.....(its an aftermarket cone filter) i know that has nothing to do with the brakes but still...

Well, seeing that intake probably does more harm than good (very debatable) it shouldn't be that relevant.

Plus, it doesn't rain here so I never had that problem!

Most states require the shields to pass inspection. Just sayin.

They also make for less of a chance of getting something stuck between your pad and disc.

That sounds like a perfectly good reason to me. I mean, why not have them?? unless they are all ben up they aren't that ugly

i also kept the dust shields.

i cut enough material to clear the q45 brakes, and massaged the lips and bent them ever so slightly to hold my 11 inch rotors.

works great for me

Don't have mine never had a problem.
Looked like to much work for what it was.
Basically anybody that has upgraded their brakes to anything bigger then stock rotors won't have them.
To this day I've never heard anyone one having problems cause of it, what's a little more brake dust gonna hurt?

Never heard on car failing inspection just for that cause alone. Just sayin.

visual inspection is a non-issue for me. However I would bet they are mostly there to keep water from bouncing off the inner fender up to the hot rotors.

nah primer fades... if you use actual satin or flat black it lasts... and if you do it carefully you can rattle can without the strips :gapteeth:

I put on the 180sx brakes from my front clip and it had the dust shields. I like the authentic look of it plus it does keep crap getting stuck in there to a point. it is one less thing I have to worry about.
