It sounds like a PITA to remove and I want a little bling while a proven intake manifold is available for the ka. anyone tried it?

I'm sure you could polish the top of it fairly well but... like most things it's better to do it right the first time. plus you can redo all those ****ty vacuum lines and clean stuff up. you'll feel better about it in the end

i bought some stuff yesterday so i guess i'll give it ago while bolted first, and if i can't do just take it off. this should be something i can do in a day right, as long as i have all the parts? does the gasket usually rip?

edi: err, weekend

I'd hope not but plan for it. it isn't too expensive. 9$ for both upper and lower gaskets at advance auto parts

Dude, you're gonna make the engine bay a sand box w/ all the dust. Check out my write up on my site. If nothing else, remove the 4 studs to allow for easy install/removal.

Do it right.

nothing a pressure washer can't fix

it must be nice to have access to a shop/good tools, 10hrs is freakin fast. I'd take me at least a couple of hours to remove, then another 2 to reinstall. probably 10 more just to polish it which would mean that i'd be without a car for at least two days. I don't plan on keeping the manifold for long anyways, that's why i don't really care for perfection. just gives me something to do for now

the batteries when out on my camera so i had to use the phone cam. i think it's looking good considering the effort i've put into it

that was on a 600 grit sand, it should be a lot shinier after i sand it to 1000 grit

it took me 3 hours to grind the casting texture off the 4 runners, and hand sand/polish the one runner pictured. the only tools were a drill, 5" and 4" 80 grit sanding discs, 80 grit sanding wheel, polishing wheel, and 280/600 grit sandpaper. i havent really had time to work on it since Sat. My retarded a55 poured about 2gal of water into the gas tank of a car i'm trying to sell and I've been trying since to fix it/get it started....anyone done something as stupid?

At the very least disconnect the fuel lines and the throttle/cruise control cable....after that you'll have a LOT more room and will be able to get at every runner no problem..
