If so, how difficult was the chore? And how did it sound?

Why you dont need any rear fill :)

I took mine rear ones out from day one and have had a nice set of components up front. Currently my amp is dead though cus I was um making it look nice and shiney, and wasnt thinking about the inner voltage regulators having different grounding points when I put it back together..... I released the magic smoke. :( Oh well I tried to fix it with new parts (soldered in new parts that where physically damaged) but its a no go, gotta send it back.

For my rears I may be adding a sub stage again after I ripped my old one out for lightness. Im stuffing a set of boston acoustics pro 8"s in there with fiberglass boxes mated under the rear deck or putting them in the rear quarters :)

BTW my car sounds (err sounded) very nice (weeks of tweaking will do that though) with just the front set of coustom mounted BA pro 6.5 components.

Didnt really help eh? hehe

Oh to fit 6x9's I would use a jig saw with a fine metal blade, cover the gas tank area with a drop cloth and ,cut it out of both sides of the speaker hole to keep the speaker centered. Test fit them then mark the mounting holes. Drill those out and drop them in / wire them up.

I have (had) the 6 speaker system and managed to get them behind the oem grills in the pillars. It has a pretty decent wide stage from that location still, and I was surprised.

I was almost sure they were going to have to be relocated for good sound, but worked out for me.

I did hack up the plastic behind the stock tweet grills so it just barely retained the grill though. This was causing the tweet to get severly bloked limiting its range.

why would you want 6x9's you get beter sound from componet speekers. I have a pair of 10 inch woofers in the rear deck and Infinity kappas 8 inch in the rear side panels with tweeters above theres two polks in the doors and I use the stock tweeters in front. oh yea and a 12inch sub. It sounds good

this question has been asked over and over again hit the new and improved search button. And you dont always get better sound from componets, just usually.

Point me to the messages that deal with this topic. I did a search for "6x9" and got about 5 results which talk about other subjects than 6x9 speakers in the rear.

I have a question about speakers since it's the topic here... My girlfriend just got me a Kenwood Mp3 deck and 4 6.5 Sony XS speakers. Would it be smarter to try to fit 6x9s in the back? Is it worth it? I plan on getting maybe a 10in in the back later.

Also, how do I wire the deck in? I mean, with the stock amp. My deck is 50x4 watts but i'd assume the stock amps would be better since it sounds kick *** right now. Is there some preamp I can hook me deck up to? What about the front tweeters how do I wire those? My deck is only 4 channel. It has 2 RCA preamp outs though. Grrr.. Sorry about the length but I don't know much about this stuff.

David.

This is my solution for 6x9's. It's quite half assed, but it works with no cutting. And when I have someone in the back, I just lift the seat.

I had to redo my amp rack just to fit my amp and x-over in that space...... Cusco rear STB will make you rethink that idea bland hehe

240SXer, why? If you ahve 6.5's use em. Round speakers replicate sound better then oblong ones. Only thing a 6x9 has over a 6.5 is conal area, thus emits slightly more bass. But with some f-glass and some coustom pods under the rear 6.5 you could make it sound even better.

i wish i had a pass through to the trunk, instead the gas tank sits in between the trunk and the back seat.

I thought the cusco bar passed inside the cabin above the deck. Or is that the nismo.
