I've been following the Polygamist sect situation in Texas quite a bit lately because we have very similar circumstances in Arizona.

Before I go any further, please note that this is not a Religious topic. I'm in no way bashing these people's beliefs, and for that matter, I've heard little in the news about this even being a religion... even the elders of this sect call it a "Community" not a religion....

so with that being said, I've seen some interviews with the women of these communities and each time I see one, the hair on the back of my neck stands straight out! On the Today show for the last week or so, they've interviewed the mothers of the children that have been held in state custody until such time that they are deemed returnable to a safe environment... Each of these women not only have the same hair, but speak in the EXACT same tone (a very meek and nasal tone that appears to be on the verge of tears). I think this may be the result of years of verbal and emotional abuse. Each time they are interviewed, they're "husband" is standing over their shoulder peering with glances that could kill. These people really remind me of children of the corn types...

I think there is some $hit going on there that is FAR worse than we can imagine... but the point I was making was that most of these people REALLY look like each other... Facial features... everything! I'm not trying to stereotype, but I think there's some gene blending there that could make the south look like disneyland! Anyone else get this creepy feeling about this whole thing?

I think we're going to find some VERY interesting things about these people when the DNA test results are released...

Does this remind you of anything similar????? Interesting how these images also came up when I googled "polygamist women"...

A few "rehearsed" interviews with some of the sect women...

They have been on Larry King a lot lately. I've look at those women in their almost robotic trance staring straight ahead as one woman, the spokesman, responded poorly to the questions asked. They came across as evasive and secretive. Simple questions were dismissed with non relevant responses.

I feel for the kids. Many of them did not know who their mother or father are. (or aren't telling). I could care less if one guy wants to have 2 or 50 wives, but the kids need a better chance in life than growing up an an environment which totally unprepared them for adulthood. They have been sheltered and protected to the point that they would never fit in and function in our society. That is child abuse.

Hang that child rapist (if it is proven)

Actually, the whole reminds me of a cross between Waco and the McMartin Preschool abomination.

The initial phone call that started it all appears to be a hoax perpetrated by a black woman from Colorado, there have been no charges filed, 416 children have been ripped from their parents, their family, their community, everything they've ever known, and are being held for 30 days in a colosseum and tucked into their cots at night by social workers. All "for the good of the children" as decided by one man, a judge. My conclusion is that he must be an complete imbecile. 416 children. My gawd. Let it be known that in Texas, if the authorities receive a phone call, they can confiscate all your children for 30 days, hold them for interrogation and test their DNA, and there's not ONE DAMNED THING you can do about it. NO charges need to be filed, no bail is available. I suppose they could confiscate every non-adult in your small town, if they suspected one underage girl was pregnant.

Just ... swell.
