Anyone else notice the electronic noise when hard braking?

2012 M56s, only 17k....

I might be crazy, but it seems that with spirited braking, especially to a stop, there is an electronic very high pitched sound that I hear for about .3 seconds.

It seems to coincide, and I may be wrong, with the "Sport" mode double downshift that occurs when hard braking, that holds engine revs around 3k in event you want to mash on the gas again. This is odd to have an automatic do this, but it's what I would do in a manual, so I'm getting used to it. They really have engineered a great car here, but if anything is lacking, it would be some hesitation in the transmission when giving moderate throttle at speed. Sometimes it lags, or seems to have trouble deciding on a gear.

I don't drive with music or radio usually (I love the sounds of this young car), so I hear everything, for better or for worse. Does anyone else hear this?

mac, your just driving so damn fast , it's DISTANT THUNDER your approaching heard in your speakers????? 5/5 for that avatar! Silica content in tires , I forget Hi vs LO , causes weird STATIC especially when trans "chirps" them , tires "scuff", or momentarily leave & re-contact pavement.You'll know them because you get a lot of shocks touching handles and fuel doors and such.

I hear it when I am not hard braking....it's not very loud

Its from the noise cancelling system. Hard for the system to keep up with the braking.

Don't think you can turn it off. Mine isn't too loud to annoy me that much how loud is yours?

Don't think its anything related to noise cancelling, I think its the brake booster or brake assist. The same noise can be heard when using active cruise control in stop/go traffic when the car brakes down to a stop on its own and also during ABS activation during winter.

It's not really loud. But, I get annoyed easily when it comes to aberrant sounds in my vehicles. It's clearly an electronic feedback, like ground noise without an isolator. Nothing mechanical. I don't *think* it's coming from the speakers. Sounds like it's inside the dash.

Have you guys heard the sound the ABS module/ pump makes when the servos are activating?

I wouldn't describe it as high pitched, but rather reminds me of the seat belt motor. If it weren't for the ABS light flashing, you'd think your car is giving up the ghost. It's most common when driving in slippery conditions, or extremely hard braking as you mentioned

I'm almost 90 percent sure its the noise cancelling. I can only hear mine when the radio is off and all the windows are up. Might be talking about a different noise but your description matches mine.
