Noticed this today, I pulled the front wheels off to make room for working on it, and I am also refinishing my wheels. I noticed the tires were sliced into from a welded seam in the wheel well, very sharp. I am going to notch the metal and fold it over, but I though it was odd. Anyone else victim to this?

Tires are 225-45-17, replacing with 205-45-17's, These will become spares. Car isn't slammed but it is low.

Yep, happened to my Falken Azenis 615's when I took it to the track for the first time.

Ended up grinding and hammering back that pinch weld, on both sides.

Most 240 owners have had to deal with this after they lower their cars. :)

My dad cut and folded mine the day I put my coilovers on.

I also rubbed on the right-angled area where the shock tower and round part of the fender well meet so I hammered at it until it was not a problem.

Yea gonna do the same.

Plan is to restore my volks with a 205-45-17 front
And i'm buying XXR 527's for the track, going to use these 225's for now on them

Yesm, that AND the driver side harness has been eaten up numerous times by the wheels. Had to move it up into the fender more.

i got spliced tires a few times when i had my s14 (different model, i know). it was hitting against a metal curvature in the wheel well. i had to raise my s14 a bit in order to prevent it from happening again.

Dave Coleman from Sport Compact Car detailed what he did in an old SCC issue. He cut out the pinch weld and rewelded it flat.
