Ok.. I probably sound like a wuss here but in reality I dislike driving my car in the rain/wet road conditions

The back end seems to come loose without even doing anything at all.. From a dead stop if I keep the rpms low enough I won't get any slippage [that's a given], but when I hit 2nd gear it'll start to spin or the back end will start to drift out of my lane.. U-Turns in watery conditions have to be about 5 mph or the back end will slip out and normal turns have to be taken extra slow.. mean while those friggin FWD crap cars can take them fast :(

Driving on the road and hitting the gas sometimes the car slows down while the rear tires are happily spinning away and after a moment it locks back into the ground.. it's actually kinda scary, I haven't really done any drifting or crazy stuff with my car, so it kinda freaks me out.. I'm not trying to sound like a wimp but hey thats the truth!

Soo basically my question is, does anyone else have the problem where it doesn't want to go the way you want to go in the rain & do you have any suggestions..

Forgive for doing so, but I assume an LSD would help me a little bit?

How are your rear tires? My are so bald that the wires are starting to stick out. That is why mine does all that yours does. If your tires are newer, mabye you got some that have really crappy rain traction. According to your mods list, you don't have a ton of HP, so it is pretty much your tires that are the issue.

I know my tires aren't the best; don't even think they are all weather.. probably a big factor (Nitto tires 17/40/205)

Other thing could be my clutch I guess.. I have a SPEC kevlar clutch =/ it grips pretty tight when you let it out; I doubt it helps the rainy situation

get some good all weather pirellis or something like that and set up some adjustable swaybars to counter it. if you never want to drift the thing, it shouldn't be a problem.

And tell me why you removed your secondary butterfly valves? (I must search on this, sounds interesting.)

i have kumho mx tires that are suppose to be "max performance" summer tires. i also have a spec stage 3 cltuch that is very tight and bypassed the clutch damper system thats makes shifts a lil harder.

only thing is my rear tires are 255's and have plenty of tread on them and i have vlsd but i never spin them unless i try so the vlsd doesnt really matter

yea when i got my spec stage 2 clutch i noticed when i shifted even at low rpm's the tires where breaking lose a lot more than normal. since i got a nother car im going to try not to drive my 240 in the rain or snow. not because i dont want to slide around, i actually love driving in the rain or snow, i just dont want it to get all that dirty water and salt and ice on it.

i still have this problem even with some good tires. its the 240, dont worry about it. the back end is very tail happy. i can spin em till 3rd in the rain, thats when i let off the gas so i can actually go. i love driving in first and punching it and having them break lose and spin. scares the poop outta my passengers, and sometimes the people next to me. did that with some bigass truck that was trying to show off. i bet you dont have much in the back either. light back end, RWD, no LSD, and a 5spd. thats prolly a good reason why. oh and the tires will do it too.

it'll also help if you practice driving technique. try braking in a straight line and never add any gas in a turn until you are exiting the turn.

as stupid as i was, when it iced over down here in texas and all the schools were cancelled, I drove out to burger king, drove to cingular and did all my errands in my baby. I took off from a stop light faster than a trd 4x4. and i never had problems with it kicking out. . . only cause i wanted it to :D

for some good cheap tires, I'd recommend the Kumho MX. It outperformed Yokohama AVS ultra sport and the BF goodrich g-force t/a kd ultra high performance.

I have the predecessor to it, the ecsta supra 712 and it grips amazing in the rain.

i have an act street clutch and even with my old bald tires i could successfully make it in the rain. just have to be smooth (bring some water in a paper cup, and don't spill it :pface)

I have a few suggestions. As everyone else has said, you should definitely get some good tires. But before you do, find a big parking lot on a rainy day and let you car slide out on purpose. It is important to understand your car, and to be able to control it if it does start to slide. You don't want to be scared and make a slly mistake that could end your car. Also look into getting a limited slip. This will help you maintain traction and is a fairly cheap mod. This will also help in most all motorsports.

LoL Aries My tires are like slicks and on a stock cluch my car spins n 2nd most the time. just go out into a parking lot that damn near empty cut some tail slids and dounts get you better at reacting to that so if it happens one time when you dont mean to you wont freeze up or get scared.

Nah, probly your intake, gave you too much power, no traction...you have an exhaust too? Well there you go....

get rain tires like me and problem solved :) falken 512s and lowered suspension, never spun the wheels when i didnt want to. I dont know if its because of the drop, the tires, or both but its much better now.

my old tires were firehawk GTAs ... might as well been slicks in the rain, had some scarey fishtails at some intersections and turns, and im a semi-cautious driver!

first time I drove my 240 in the rain I got a bit sideways downshifting from 3rd to second at about 25 mph. Scared me enough to decide to go back home and not drive that day. My tires are always breaking loose in the rain, even when I try to not let them. Then again, I have a slightly heavy foot according to some of my friends... at least when I shift.
