Anyone else have a ride in a really fast car today?

I sure did. Today one of my dads friends came over with this bad boy. And man it was fast as hell. It's a 1967 FORD COBRA kit car that he put together and it's super clean. 427 motor, 450 horsepower, T-10 4 spd., 9 inch Ford rear and he even added A/C to it. It's surley the fastest car I've ever been in. Anyone else been in a fast car like this before?

Enh, test drove an 05 SL65 AMG with my grandfather... I was disappointed cause he wussed out and settled for the SL500.

I bet the Cobra was a bit more fun though...Manuals always are...

Not to mention the power to weight ratio. The SL65 is certainly impressive, but the Cobra weighs a good 2200lbs less. Also, the lack of stuff like EBD, traction control, etc. either means it'll be a ton of fun or you'll wrap it around a tree in less than 12 seconds.

Edit: Damn...I love the whole, take an engine and wrap a little bit of car around it. Why do we not have more of that these days? Personally, I blame Ralph Nader. Eunuch bastard.

I came across a Cobra at the Gas station Friday. Nice hunk of vehicle there.







The owner said it was custom built new for him by Carol Shelby. I don't know the validity of that but it does seem to have his autograph on the dash.Very nice.

Two seats a Shifter and pedals that's in..No dash, no gauges, the whole car inside and out is painted in Truck Bed Liner. It was runnin' good times.

He said he added the A/C because driving through Palm Springs the wind isn't enough to keep you cool. He even added extra padding in the firewall and by the doors to help reduce the heat from the engine and exhaust. It is a really bitchin car, but it can be kind of squirley because it's so much hp and torque in a small car.

bishez aint nothin, my friends father has a chevy biscane puttin 1100 hp to the wheels, 1400 w/ Nitrous. he took it out for the first time on the drag strip, when he shifted into second so much torque went to the tires the whole car jerked almost completely sideways. he recovered AND STILL RAN AN 11 SECOND 1/4 MILE.

.......and that was without the nos.
