Soo. we finally have a warm weekend & have decided to change my cracked radiator. I followed the directions on flushing the system before I R&R the radiator.

They should have a warning about the engine drain bolt. I had orange coolant mix gush out while i was under the car.

I scooted out while it was still a waterfall & quickly placed a drain pan to catch the rest... & hunted for the bolt.

Now I know to remove the front driver side wheel so I can get outta there on the next 3 flushes...

After a quick shower, I'm just waiting for the car to cool down so I can check for air in the system...topped it off 2x already.

Haha....One of my friends was having troubles with his GTI VR6 last summer...We probably had coolant shoot out at us (while we were working from on top) about 6 times :(

Are you running dex-cool in your car or is it just orange colored regular coolant?

I had an automatic transmission oil bath tonight. Just took a shower about 10 mins ago :)

I think the S14 auto transmission holds like 30 qts of oil. It just never stopped.

Had a clutch fan disintigrate and chop big holes in the radiator while I was under the hood. That tends to make a mess of your day...

62, yea it was dex-cool w/ distilled h2o... last changed in '99

lucky I waited until it was completely cool (i didn't want to strip the threads) & was wearing safety glasses. But, it does taste sweet!

that gush went way out to the tire & lasted for about 2 sec.

WD, that must have been a cheapo clutch fan... my 89 still looks brand new w/ no cracks...

PS: hayden makes sucky fan clutches; it's my 3rd one that leaked silicone fluid all over the fan. but w/ a lifetime warranty, i don't mind the labor :P

I haven't had any coolant bath before but when I had to poor coolant in my radiator before I drenched everything below it :) I have soaked my sleeve in it from when I done that and I've had part of my shirt drenched in gasoline. Stupid gas station people didnt have a bag on the pump to say its not working there mistake. Gas started to slowly spew out of my tank b/c the damn thing was messed up. I got half of my sleeve drenched in gasoline then go in there after they solve the problem and I said I am not paying for all that gas. She said how much was you getting I said 3dollars worth b/c thats all the cash I had on me and didnt feel like writing a check. SHe looked at the total of the gas and it was like 10bucks worth. Sooo only good thing was I got a full tank for 3dollars. :D Oh the lady then realized she was going to put a bag on it but got distracted and never did. I drove home smelling like gasoline with all windows down and sunroof up. lol
