Anyone else get an email for nav 2010 for $99

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Yep, got an email from INFINITI for a nav upgrade for $99. and the small print is:

* Map installation occurs at the dealership and a service fee will apply. The service fee varies by individual dealership. Sales tax may apply. Available for the following vehicles: EX 2008-2009, FX 2009, G Coupe 2008-2009, G Sedan 2007-2009, G Convertible 2009, M 2008-2009, QX56 2008-2009. Infiniti-X8-E-0410

Anyone else get it. Anyone check to see how much the service fee is. Is this just a matter of swapping out the dvd?

My EX is an 08.

Didn't get this email, but I am interested if the service fee is reasonable. Did you get a generic promotional email or something with a one-time use coupon?

They also give a phone number-this was cut and paste from my email.

Dear John,

Order Your 2010 Map Update Today to Optimize Navigation System Performance.
A new study shows that drivers with navigation systems:
use 12% less fuel than those without them
reduce their carbon dioxide emissions by 21%**
You've made a wise choice in buying a navigation-equipped Infiniti, so don't let that advantage slip away by letting your map go out of date. Updating your map is simple, affordable and enables your system to find the most efficient routes to minimize your impact on the environment.

It is a hard drive based navigation system. You pay them for the map update code, then take a code to your dealer who installs it for you using CONSULT tool. Most dealers will charge additional labor fee to do this.

If you live in an area that is changing rapidly, it is worth it. If you live in Southern CA like I do, it is not worth it IMHO.

well, I found out why they dropped the price on this. So after you buy the $99 "code" you take it to your stealership upon which they charge you $98 to DOWNLOAD the updated maps into your hard drive. Completely ridiculous. I'm sorry, but $98 to hook up to a computer and press a button is a rip off. Glad I have discs in my other car, I can "download" those myself off the internet.

Wow, $200 plus the time spent taking it to the dealer. I bet the take rate for this gouge is pretty low. You would be better off buying a portable NAV unit if you have the choice. Nissan's option bundling on the EX makes it hard to get a well equipped car without NAV.
