Anyone else experience a bumpy ride

I purchased my 2007 1.8S Versa on Saturday (3/17). For my test drive, I felt the car rode very smooth. But now that I've had it for a few days, it feels to me like a bumpy ride. To me it feels just ok on smooth roads but when I drive on roads that are less then smooth, I feel every little bump I hit. First I thought maybe it was just the tire pressure was too high but after lowering all the tires from around 40 psi to around the recommended 33 psi the TPMS light came on. After I raised the psi to around 38 per tire the light went back off (my car was built in 11/06). I have an appt on Monday to have the dealer look the car. I had a Sentra before this car and a Civic before that and both felt to me like like much smoother rides. The majority of posts I've seen on here seems like people are really happy with how comfortable it rides but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience (or maybe I'm just crazy). If anyone has any input as to what might be wrong it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure you are adding and removing air when the tires are cold. Air expands when it's hot and contracts when it's cold. If you've let the air out of the tires when the tires were warm, then when your tires cool back down the psi will be even lower. This is probably why the TPMS was tripped. I'd suspect you're feeling every bump because of over inflated tires. Over inflation the tires car cause your tires to wear down quickly and in an odd patterns. While you're tires are cold, let the air out to 33 PSI. Make sure you have an accurate tire gauge. Over inflation may also damage the wheel sensors, but I'm not sure how sensitive they are.

initially i did feel the bumpy rides, but after a while things stared to s,oothen up. at first i thought it was me who was getting used to the vehicle. but it is definetly much better now. with the amount of potholes in Edmonton, it is much better now.

Yes, I find the ride 'bumpy' on not so smooth pavement. It was reported by some magazine and web site reviewers as well. It is no where near as soft a ride as with, say, the Nissan Almera. Panama city has more rough pavement than back in Oregon so I notice it more.

Overall, I suspect it is a trade-off, namely, better driving and handling, i.e. not so mushy.

I felt the bumpy ride only because I set the cold tire pressure to 40 psi to reset my TPMS. It rides fine at 33 psi. I have noticed that you must take speed bumps very slowly. The suspension can take the action of the bump, but the reaction back to the normal position results in a very loud THUMP. Other than the "thump recoil", the ride is pretty good for a small car.

It doesn't ride wuite as well over larger bumps as my '03 Corolla did, but on smaller bumps it's better isolated. Ultimately it's a sub$15k car with an narrow track, small tires and an economy suspension.

The Civic, has a more sophisticated multilink set-up... that eats truck space. Most midsized cars also have multilink set-ups... and offer less trunk space than the Versa.
